“Marriott's Expensive Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Venice was the first city on our tour of Italy. Yes Venice is very expensive as far as cities go and when booking our hotel we had Marriott reward points we wanted to spend, so here we stayed. The room had an elegant fussy (a bit 18th century) yet contemporary feel to it. The bathroom was very contemporary covered in Marble. The bathtub was absolutely perfect to unwind in. The staff was very helpful, however do not ask them where to go to eat dinner, they send everyone to the same place, (it is okay but you can do better!) Take advantage of the free boat shuttle at the hotel that will take you to San Marco square. Call and they will pick you up as well! Breakfast was included, it was simple and delicious, walk their private garden when you finish breakfast it is beautiful!

Room Tip: It depends on weather you want to stay facing the ocean or the inner coastal channel. We stayed in t...

If you are looking for a hotel away from the crowd, this is the one. This hotel is directly based on the sea and the Canal in the same time, just minutes away from the routes to main Venice attractions. The rooms are beautiful with sense of old style; also they do have a private garden which i think is the only hotel in Venice with garden. The food is really good; they do have this breakfast menu that gives you choices to select from apart of the buffet. Staff member were very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms beyond the garden overlooking the sea

My husband and I are members of Marriott Rewards and are time share owners so we always stay in a Marriott or allied property when we travel. We used our accumulated points on a trip to Italy and France in September, 2012, and were fortunate to be able to stay at Boscolo Venenzia Autograph Collection in Venice.

It is former noble palace and it has the most amazing gardens and lagoons within it's walls. It is utterly charming. The accommodations were fabulous, roomy and extremely comfortable. The staff was exceedingly gracious, polite and helpful.

Breakfast in the gardens was a treat every morning. We had dinner one night at the hotel and that was the only negative. It simply was not very good. We were too tired to go out and our first choice was closed that evening. Since we were traveling the next day, we thought...just eat at the hotel. Well it was only so-so. I would not recommend having dinner there.

The Boscolo Venenzia is in a quiet neighborhood, right off of the Madonna Dell'orto Vaporetta stop. It is not far from the island of Murano. You can walk to San Marco easily from there, though it is a bit a hike. Actually you can walk anywhere you want in Venice, it's a very walking-friendly city.

The Boscolo Venenzia is a 5-star hotel and yes, it is expensive, if you are paying for it instead of using "points" like we were, but it we were pampered and treated fabulously during our stay. We couldn't recommend it more enthusiastically!

In September my husband and I spent 3 nights here. What a fantastic hotel! Being in Venice you are subject to the hustle and bustle of San Marco Square but this hotel is a 25 minute walk (they do offer a complimentary water shuttle throughout the day) and a wonderful respite from that! It's beautiful inside and out (don't forget to visit the garden area that goes all the way to the water) with a wonderful, helpful staff. Our room was large and very lovely with a charming view of the tiled rooftops (it would have been perfect if there had been a bureau for our clothing). The bathroom was very modern with all the amenities but a bit on the small side. Enjoy all the Murano glass throughout the hotel. It really is spectacular. We enjoyed breakfast there each morning (but that is not a "given" ) and had drinks in the bar each evening. Mauro, the bartender is very personable and we enjoyed several conversations with him. At the front desk Martina and Gaia are so lovely and will do anything to make your stay better. We loved the fact that this hotel is removed (3 rights and 3 bridges) from the chaos of Venice and actually in a real neighborhood. It is not difficult to get to the sites, it just might take longer. But it will be well worth it. It was the perfect place to end our stay in Italy.

Spent a few nights here and was very pleased. The room was spacious enough with a view overlooking the gardens out back. The staff were all very helpful with the questions we had.

While the hotel was away from what you might call the hustle and bustle, nothing is really that far away in Venice. Half the fun is wandering around and getting lost.

As noted by other reviews, the hotel offers a shuttle to St Marks. It is quite comfortable and pleasant. I found that it took roughly the same amount of time to get to St marks taking this shuttle or taking the public water bus down the Grand Canal. You can only go so fast on small boats.

You can walk to Piazzale Roma in about 10min, Rialto bridge in about 20min and St Marks in around 30-40min. Taking the shuttle or water bus to Sta Marks takes about 30min so it really just depends on what you feel that day.

Breakfast out back under the tent in the garden was good. A buffet of a variety of items and juices, or you could request something specific from a menu if you desire.

Would definitely stay here again.

Having read somewhat mixed reviews, we were a little anxious before we checked in at the Boscolo Venezia. All our apprehension was immediately put to rest when we arrived at the hotel and were greeted by a friendly and professional staff. The lobby was beautiful, with glass chandeliers, marble floors, and gracious furnishings. We had booked a standard room using Marriott Points, but we were upgraded at check in to a Junior Suite. Our room (403) was perfect! Large floor to ceiling windows opened to a small balcony overlooking a canal and the main entrance. The room was beautifully decorated and included a comfortable king size bed, end tables, and dresser. In addition the room included a sitting area with a settee, two chairs, and a table. The bathroom was beautiful as well, and the toiletries were high quality. We slept with the windows open and encountered only one mosquito in three nights! Several reviews expressed dissatisfaction with the internet service, however we experienced no difficulties.

Several people commented on the breakfast. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but we were offered a discount when we checked in (not sure why) and so enjoyed it two of our three mornings. It is a buffet served in a white tent on the edge of the garden, and the atmosphere was quite elegant. Speaking of the garden, don't miss it if you stay in this hotel. It is much larger than we expected and has a variety of flowers and plantings, with charming walkways throughout. It includes a small bridge and an underground room that I can only assume was a wine cellar in years past.

The hotel was easy to reach by vaporetto. We arrived by train and took vaparetto 4.2 to Orto You will see the red awning of the hotel as you approach the Orto dock. Unfortunately, you cannot walk directly to this entrance, it is accessible by boat (but not the vaporetto) only. After you get off the vaporetto walk forward and go around a few buildings to get to the front of the Boscolo. Have faith, it is worth the walk.

The free water taxi to St. Marks leaves from the front door. It is necessary to reserve it in advance, so make your plans as soon as you arrive. If there isn't room on the boat when you want to leave, the walk to St. Marks Square is full of wonderful restaurants and shops. It is also full of steps, as each of the bridges (and there are many) are raised with at least ten steps up and down!

This was our first trip to Venice, but it will not be our last. A return to the Boscolo is definitely on my bucket list!

The hotel location is fabulous - quiet and very atmospheric on a small canal with some lovely restaurants and a few shops close by. The hotel free boat to St. Marks is a beautiful comfortable boat that goes about 8 times a day - we took it round trip before dinner one evening just for the ride. The hotel staff were good and helpful. The hotel itself physically is OK, not great - it claims to have been 100% renovated in 2011 but our room was very tired and looked like it hadn't had a makeover for 20 years. The bath shower had no curtain or shield so you had to be very careful to not splash directly into the bathroom. We could not get the hotel internet to work in two attempts.
