The Sovoia & Jolanda is in a fantastic location. A block from San Marco Square. Right on the Ocean (bay?) and next to the water taxi. The service was also very good. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The major downside of the hotel is the facility itself which is quite old and needing renovation. The breakfast was also not up to par with the price nor the standard we experienced in other cities in Italy. In fact beyond coffee and danish the breakfast was pretty poor. Despite this we enjoyed our stay but I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water. Make sure you are not facing the alley.

From our spacious room on the top floor of the Savoia & Jolanda Hotel we can see most of Venice's lagoon islands, and take in the 'action' from our small terrace. Below us the gondolas bob with the wakes of waterborne vehicles of every description. Commuter ferries of all sizes ply the water, smaller water taxis fight for space at the dock in front of the hotel, and an ocassional enormous cruise ship slips quietly by. Our junior suite was unusually large, and beneath the exposed roof beams...perhaps in the summer this would be a warm room, but this is September and the luxurious bath adds great value.
Venice is one of the most traveled tourist destination, and at the Savoia & Jolanda, Jacapo Derai and his staff provide excellent care to be sure you feel comfortable and pampered.

Room Tip: Our room was a large junior suite, but under the eaves where it might be hot in the summer months.

The only thing this hotel may have 4 stars for is the view on San Giorgio island. We stayed overnight as we had found what appeared a fair deal. We were soon to face reality: hotel staff is unfriendly if not mocking, or fake-friendly, with the exception of the lift man, a nice, well-mannered chap; the room with the view was large, decently clean, and exquisitely fake-venetian furnished; the bathroom was large but equipped with cheap-looking (likely refilled) shampoo/bath courtesy bottles; no slippers were provided. Breakfast was poor in quality, although not in quantity. There were many waiters chatting and making noise among themselves but only one lady was really working, and the service was therefore lacking. We did not try the restaurant. All in all, an hotel frozen in the 80's, with the remarkable exception of the price: in high season it features the shocking rate of 710 euros a night. Let's hope this is yet another facet of venetian polimorphic character. Not worth more than 100, in our view.

We have a suite for 4 nights overlooking the lagoon. The room is great with a fabulous view but our stay is completely ruined by us freezing at night.

The heating does not work in our room (206). After complaining for two days we still cold in our suite without heating and we had another terrible night. So far we have been treated as a nuisance despite the nightly tempreture dropping below zero. We have sent an email to the hotel but we are still without heating.

.

Room Tip: Make sure it has heating that works!

My girlfriends and I went to Veince for 2 nights and so pleased we booked this hotel. It was very clean and welcoming, our check in was the best, we have the staff takes us round to our rooms and explain all the facilities. The rooms were so nice and clean, beds were really comfortable and we all had slippers and robes which was very cosy. The bathrooms looked like they have had a re vamp and were excellent, with heated floors! amazing! The staff was great through out our trip.

Location was just spot on right near the center of everything:-) with easy access to water bus and 25 mins ride to the airport.
