We stayed here for one night following our first Royal Caribbean cruise and would consider staying here on a return visit to Venice.
It was perfect for a short stay for a couple. We thought the hotel was charming and very nicely decorated in Venetian style. The room was plenty big with a sofa area. What is the use of a very large room in a poor location??? The garden, terrace and breakfast room were lovely. The breakfast was the standard continental fare but there was a hot food menu also.
The staff were very helpful and gave us tips on getting the most out of our short stay and which travel tickets to get.
Hotel Olimpia is about 8-10mins walk to Plz St Marguerita, which had plenty of cheap & cheerful restuarants and bars to try.

We found the location perfect as it was just across the canal from the main bus station (Plz Roma), the vaparetto station and 5 mins stroll from the train station. The stepped bridge across the canal may be offputting from some people but this is Venice and bridges are hard to avoid! (Someone has posted a photo of it in this review section so take a look) There are free shuttles run by the cruise companies from Plz Roma to the port and a public bus service to Marco Polo airport from here also. So there should be no need to spend a fortune on watertaxis.
We got a 36hr waterbus ticket which also covers the AVTO public bus to Marco Polo. There is a another more direct bus which only costs E3 that leaves from Plz Roma every 30mins and takes 20mins.

We stayed here for 1 night following a cruise. The hotel was perfectly located right by Piazzale Roma where the bus station is located and a major stop for vaporettas at the bottom of the Grand Canal. The room was beautiful with padded material instead of wallpaper. The lift is the smallest I have ever seen - just big enough for 3 people - my children loved this. The staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was adequate and can be eaten in the garden if wanted.

Overall this was the perfect hotel to stay in at the end of the cruise.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights after our cruise. Hotel's location is very good. Cruises offer free shuttles to Piazzale Roma, and Hotel Olimpia is very close to Piazzale Roma. You just need to cross over a bridge with your luggage to reach the hotel. The hotel has a nice little garden where you can have your breakfast or sun bathe. Our room had a canal view, it was very nice. The area was also very clean and quiet with nice restaurants around. You can take a varopetto to San Marco, but we chose to walk and discover the narrow streets on the way. You can reach San Marco in about half an hour. I recommend this hotel to people staying in Venice before or after their cruise trips.

This is a VERY VERY BAD hotel. Please do not go by the ga ga reviews. This hotel is atrocious. It is a dinky motel. Rooms are horrible and really old and dilapidated. We paid 250+ dollars and trust me it is highway robbery.

Dear Guest,
We are sorry you didn't like our hotel.
The Olimpia hotel has a 17th century style furniture, we understand that , sometimes, this style can be misunderstood, but we are in Venice centre and a modern furniture in this location we consider it inappropriate.
Thank you anyway for your review and your opinion.

Okay, if you want a four star hotel then pay for it. Yes, you will get more room and a full service restuarant. If you want a perfectly good three star hotel in Venice, Italy, then consider the Hotel Olimpia. It is extremely well located ( block from the train station) and run by customer sensitive hotel staff who actually remember who you are. -Steve M

I will start this review by confirming that our problem here certainly affected my ability to recommend this hotel but that it IS in a great location next to Piazza le Roma for a pre-cruise overnight stay. Straight off the bus from the airport you will see the hotel with minimal effort to reach it and again when setting off for the cruise ship a free shuttle bus from the same bus terminal will get you to the boarding the boat. So 10/10 for its location.

I can also add that there is a beautiful courtyard/garden out back where we enjoyed breakfast and that is also a lovely feature for the hotel.

Other than that I am afraid - the good points are over. We had booked a quadruple room 6 months in advance and immediately emailed the hotel to request that the room be made up into 2 double beds to accommodate ourselves and our friends. We had been told that the beds could be arranged as per our requirements and an email reply from the hotel manager confirmed that this would be possible. I sent a second email four days prior to arrival as we were arriving late into the evening and did not wish to encounter any problems. Once again confirmation was promptly received back to confirm our requirements....

Needless to say on arrival at 11pm it was immediately apparent that 2 double beds had never and would never be an option due to the fixed nature of 2 single beds in separate parts of the room. One double bed was with one single bed and then through a set of double doors was a second fixed single bed!!! We complained but were basically told to speak to the manager the following morning to resolve matters.

The next morning upon checking out I spoke with the hotel manager who told me, and I quote, " I lied to secure your booking". I was simply astounded. I would have expected him to be apologetic with us but on the contrary he chose to attack us and kept saying "you ordered a quadruple room" as if it was our error. I am still not sure what was meant by this comment - he seemed to suggest that a quadruple room could never accommodate 2 couples but having never needed to book this room type before I was none the wiser?? A discount was offered which we accepted but was shockingly small.

Needless to say it left a very sour taste at the very start of our holiday. I advised him that I would be writing an honest review on TA and he told me that he intended to respond on the site if I did so... Be aware that you may not want to believe what he writes bearing in mind his admission to being a liar!

In summary - great location, lovely courtyard garden but be aware that the management of the hotel may indeed lie to you about any matter that suits them - BE WARNED.

I would like to clarify that we NEVER promise a second matrimonial bed , but that we would made all our best to meet your needs. Unfortunately the day of your arrival guests staying the room we reserved for you decided to stay one more night and because one of the persons was handicapped , so I preferred to don’t change their room . For privacy reasons we are not authorized to give information about guests staying at the hotel , but I can assure you all my best intention and sincerity in all that has happened.

We arrived at the hotel early because of an overnight flight. It was inexpensive to get here from the airport - we simply took the bus from the airport to Piazzele Roma for 3E per person. You can see the hotel from there, but there is a bridge with a good number of steps that you must cross. If you have lots of luggage like us, that is a bit of a pain, but the convenience and price outweighed that problem.

The hotel has a small lobby and is decorated in an old world style. The elevator can only hold one person and two suitcases, so we had to make a couple of trips. Our room was not ready, but the charming desk clerk gladly stored our luggage while we explored the city.

Like the lobby, the room was quite small, much like a smaller cruise ship cabin. It too, was decorated in a charming fashion. However, the bathroom also went along with the room in size. My husband could barely turn around in the shower. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room faced the charming garden behind the hotel.

Breakfast was included in our rate, but Internet access was not included. There was a somewhat steep charge for that. The breakfast consisted of cold foods of various sorts, but it was fine for our needs.

The hotel is not right at the major tourist spots, but Rialto and St. Mark's were each less than a 20-30 minute walk. The best part of the location was that were were just across from Piazelle Roma and that gave us access to the vaporetto station there. We had purchased a multi-day vaporetto pass and we used to get everywhere in Venice as well as to Murano and Burano.

If a large room is not a problem and you need a reasonably priced hotel, convenient location for the vaporettos and the airport, this is a perfect hotel for you.
