stayed 1 night before our cruise . Bus from airport dropped us of at piazza Roma , just 2 bridges accross the hotel . reception was very helpfull , rooms where clean , nice breakfast buffet , no negative remarks on our stay
the reception gave good advice on restaurants and on our demand how to get to Murano put us on a free taxiboat ( of course to a glass factory they have an agreement with )
to get to the cruiseships , just take the 1€ pp trainride ( peoplemover ) wich departs from the piazza Roma

This hotel is the choice for a convenient location near the train station. You don't have to carry your luggages to take the water bus or walk through the paths in the town. Nicely renovated and nice services. Felt satisfatory although it gave me no surprises. My room is located on the 3rd floor in a building separately from the one of the main lobby with no lifts. Hotel staff helped with the luggage when we checked in but we had to take care ourselves when checked out for carrying the luggages downstairs.

We were wanting a location convenient to the cruise ships and Hotel Olimpia was perfect. We took the ATVO bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma. When we exited the bus we could see the hotel. It was a short walk down the block, over the bridge and turn right with the canal to your right. The Olimpia is a small hotel with 5 floors, a nice outside area behind the hotel, a business center with a computer (internet connected) and an elevator that is equally as small as the hotel it accommodates 2 people without luggage. Our room was on the 5th floor, but the elevator ends on the 4th.. The room was nicely furnished (with a security box), clean and comfortable with a full bathroom. The view from the room overlooked the roof tops, a canal and the top of the cruise ships was visible. The breakfast was excellent. The front desk personnel were very pleasant and accommodating with good information and suggestions. The hotel was located close to the train station and Gondola tours. We enjoyed taking the water buses to travel the canals. Venice architecture is beautiful. The hotel was convienent to the water bus stations. Robert was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and tourist site location information. We had time to visit Murano and the front desk arranged for a tour of the Murano Glass Factory. After we checked out the hotel put our luggage in the luggage deposit until we were ready to leave for our cruise ship. It was a short one and a half block walk to the People Mover. (1 euro fare)
The biggest question is, would we stay at the Hotel Olimpia again? The answer is, a definite: YES, we would!

What a wonderful, pleasant and helpful staff in a perfectly located hotel. The rooms were typical small European room with a modern bathroom...shower,bidet and toilet. They were clean, quiet and bedding was very comfortable. Included breakfast was excellent choice of dishes including eggs and wonderful venetian cookies! Location was a short walk from the bus terminal which is a tremendous plus in Venice where you must personally drag your bags over canals to your hotel. It was centrally located to the water taxi which gets you all about Venice, the bus terminal and cruise harbor, fun shops and to excellent restaurants ...both right next door for lunch and around the corner for dinner. We highly recommend the hotel and this area as a base for a stay in Venice.

Room Tip: Location on a quiet canal.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at the Olimpia. My main reason for choosing this hotel is that I particularly like the location. It is easy walking distance to the pick-up and drop-off of the bus from the airport so no expensive water taxi is needed and I don’t have to drag my suitcases over a ton of bridges all the while fighting hoards of tourists. The beginning stop for vaporetto #1 and #2 are extremely close so you get to see the entire Grand Canal coming and going to the more touristy areas; this is a special treat after dark as the Grand Canal is beautiful with all the lights. The area where the hotel is located is a lot less touristy that many others so you may sleep undisturbed. We stayed in the quad room and I found the bed to be quite hard but the bed in the double room where I stayed last year was very comfortable. The rooms are nicely decorated and in nice weather you can have breakfast in the beautiful garden area. Breakfast was pretty standard for what you expect to get in Italy.

We stayed at the Olimpia for one night prior to our cruise.
The location was great. Literally just one bridge from the bus stop at Piazzale Roma. You can see the hotel from the bus when you get off. Just walk toward the trees down the sidewalk and turn right to cross the bridge..
We had a canal view superior room and it was lovely. The bathroom was very good with a large shower and plenty of hot water. We had no noise when we closed the window. The breakfast in the morning was very adequate and the little backyard would be very nice in better weather of course.
The hotel is non smoking but there were little tables out front that you could have a picnic on or a drink and smoke if you wished to.
There is a very small elevator but we managed quite well.
The desk staff are wonderful. In particular Annalise was so helpful.
It was my birthday the day we checked out and they very kindly presented me with a wonderful bottle of Prosecco. A lovely touch.
We found the hotel easy to walk from into the main part of the city as well. and if you wanted to ride back just a few metres from the vapretto station.
All in all a great hotel and of course Venice is so beautiful.

I stayed at the Hotel Olimpia for one night post cruise Sept 29th. It was a bittersweet stay as this was my last night in Europe after 16 amazing days! The service given by the frontdesk erased any melancholy as it was EXCELLENT! THis hotel is VERY easy to get to after arriving from the cruise terminal via the People mover. You basically walk across the Piazzale Roma, across one small bridge and you are there!

The room itself was beautful, recently renovated and overlooked the canal. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was beautiful!

I sadly did not get to enjoy breakfast due to the ungodly hour of my flight but the bread was baking when I left and it smelled divine! My early departure was another area whereI was wowed! It was too early to take the bus and the front desk arranged for me to share a cab with 2 other people taking the same flight..this significantly reduced the price for all three of us! ( and the cab that was arranged arrived on time...came to the hotel to walk us to the cab and handled all the luggage. AWESOME)

My only regret was that I did not spend longer here...perhaps next time! Grazie Mille!
