“Sensational location, this hotel is worth a visit”
Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

I had heard about the Metropole and it didnt disappoint. If only for the location you would want to stay here. Our 1st floor corner room, decorated with antiques, was large, very comfortable and classically beautiful, windows opened directly on to the grand canal.

Stayed two evenings at this hotel and I have to say they do a lovely job accomodating their guests. When we checked in I did not like my room arrangements and Max went out of his way to show me 2 other rooms that were available. I ended up upgrading for $50 a night and got a larger room with a spectacular extremely large balcony overlooking the Grand canal. Location of this hotel is great and the hotel is kept very clean. The only down side is that the halls in the hotel are not properly air conditioned and hot. We also ate at the restaurant on site The Met which was delicious. Very conveniently located a 5 minute walk to Marco square. Breakfast was served in a buffet style and very good. Lots of items to choose from. Overall I would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: I would upgrade and try to get the Jr. Suite with the extremely large balcony that overlooks the Gra...

The perfect hotel for getting around Venice. Close walking distance to St Marks Square. Lovely garden environment for the delicious buffet included in your stay. Beautiful rooms...clean and the staff very helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

These guys made a once in a lifetime trip so incredibly memorable. The Concierge services are second to none, ensuring that everything went perfectly for myself and my partner. Thank you guys so much. Use the Vaporetto. Go to one of the church concerts. Eat well and drink Aperol! Bruno is well worth the visit too

Room Tip: The view is worth it.

We spent two nights here and loved this hotel. We arrived by water taxi and entering the hotel from their dock on the canal is a special experience. The decor is so unique and you are embraced by this exotic and luxurious atmosphere. The room was great and also very quiet. The unique decor of the hotel is fun and while not my taste, seems totally perfect and in character for visiting Venice. The breakfast buffet is excellent and we also enjoyed having cocktails on the terrace. The primary reason you'll want this hotel is the location! While on the lagoon, it is a 5 min walk from the crowds you'll encounter closer to S. Marco square. You are conveniently close to the action but not in the middle of the commotion. Venice was very crowded but we felt we could always find sanctuary at the Metropole. The staff was first class and friendly. A wonderful experience and great memories.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor on the side canal and while there was no view, it was quiet. We weren'...

We arrived by motor taxi and this hotel is unique and a special part of the history of Venice
The interiors, room decor and overall ambience is like living in old Venice. The staff are very helpful and attentive.... tickets to the opera, special events...what is really good at the Biennale!!!
What would you like to do today......nothing was a problem...the week we spend there was not long enough!

Dear "David W",
thank you for writing your comment and for sharing it with the Tripadvisor community.
You wrote a very nice thing, that entering the Metropole was like living in old Venice: well, this is something I really appreciate, in that the allure of the past is an element so difficlut to find in places. Our hotel is rich of history, in fact it used to be a female orphanage where Antonio Vivaldi thaught music during the late 18th century..
So staying here is like living again those fascianting years when Venice was at its top splendour.
Thank you so much for focusing on such an important and characterizing aspect of our Hotel.

Best regards.

In my many visits to venice , I've been in several hotels , including 5 stars ones , but this time I found a new one , very close to S.Marco Square , and was given a beautiful junior suite with a terrace overlooking the lagoon and the roofs of old Venice .
Excellent service , very fast , and unforgettable restaurant with unique menu .

Room Tip: All the rooms are very quiet , but when possible choose one overlooking the lagoon
