Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal

Went here for an anniversary and had a magical time. The location was perfect. No need to book transfers before you leave as its a cheap bus drive away (which can be paid for at airport) and then a 5 min walk to the hotel. If your unsure what bus to catch or where to go contact the hotel before hand, as we did, as they were very helpful providing all information needed along with a map.

Before we got there also we booked a three course meal for around £35 eac for the night of arrival. Once i got there was a bit hessitant but decided to go have it any way. and so glad we did, the beef was gorgeaous best we've ever tasted. The whole meal over all was lovely.

Over all i thought the hotel was clean with friendly staff who were happy to help, so offer to put your bags by if you have an early check out which was a bonus aswell.

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic birthday getaway and had an absolutely magical weekend. We found the hotel to be adequate and well situated. It was clean and conveniently located to the grand canal, train and bus stations. We had a room overlooking the grand canal, which was fun to observe the hustle and bustle of Venice, but certainly not for those who want peace and tranquility. The staff were all friendly, but the service - in terms of recommending places to eat, etc. - was fairly unimpressive. We paid as part of a package, so hard to say if it's good value. If you're looking for a place to remember, then I would suggest you keep looking. But, if you're on a budget and get a good rate, this is a perfectly decent place to stay.

I am just leaving the Carlton hotel after a fantastic 2 night stay on half board basis,
The room we had was lovely material walls with Venetian mirrors ,chandelier and over looking the grand canal .
The Restraunt is clean and the staff were amazing and good fun , the food was well presented and very nice indeed.
The breakfast Restraunt is clean with a buffet style service hot and cold food and again the staff were fantastic.
The reception staff were quick and very very helpful with a good knowledge of there surroundings and what's going.

I stayed at the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal for three nights with a Gate 1 tour. It was conveniently located near the bus station at Piazzale Roma for the continuation of our tour by bus.The front of the hotel was on the Canal near the tragetti, gondolas and water taxis stations. However our room looked out at a wall with some guy's laundry drying from his window. The room was tight for the two of us as it was a queen-king bed separated into two for twins. The food was so so and the staff really not interested in us. Maybe they were tired of tours. Don't count on WiFi unless you come with a tour which allows a little free WiFi time. I made the mistake of leaving my ECCO sandals in our crowded room and was never able to get them back despite many attempts.I am not sure if that was the fault of the hotel or my tour guide who promised to send them to me?

Room Tip: Don't ever leave anything behind in the room! If traveling privately ask for a "room with a...

I took my daughter to Venice to celebrate her 21st birthday and we were delighted by the quality of the hotel and service we received. The room was beautifully decorated and had real charm whilst the ensuite was modern and fully equipped. The hotel is situated just a short walk over a bridge from the water boat station and we took a gondola ride from a little further up the canal. The inclusive buffet-style breakfast was very adequate, largely continental style but offering scrambled eggs and bacon each day in addition to cereals, fruit, pastries, cheeses and cold meats. Our two-night stay was very enjoyable and this centrally located hotel was just what we were hoping for.

Room Tip: Please be aware that you will have to pay an additional fee for a room facing onto the Grand Canal...

My wife and I stayed at the Carlton on the Grand Canal for two nights in connection with a group tour. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed. We liked almost everything the hotel, especially its location; however, the hotel bar had no Limoncello, and they would not allow us to bring in our own Limoncello. Drat! About 15 people in our tour group wanted to commemorate our arrival in Venice with Limoncello, but the hotel management haughtily refused permission. Our group went elsewhere to celebrate. That experience soured us all on the Carlton on the Grand Canal.

We had stayed at this hotel a few years ago and so I was happy to recommend it to other members of my family. On our arrival at the hotel we were greeted by friendly and helpful reception staff, they sorted out our bookings quickly and efficiently, our luggage was taken to the rooms for us.
the rooms were all comfortable and clean although too hot we all turned the heating down to minimum and opened the windows. Some of the party had asked for rooms facing the canal which were provided but the noise from outside was problematic at night not a critisism of the hotel just something to note for light sleepers!
Breakfast is excellent and there is a plentiful and varied choice, my mother was pleased to have a good cup of tea served each morning.
Special mention for Fillipo in the bar area who ensured that the birthday celebrations sparkled throughout the weekend.
