Owner description: Travel with us by motorized Venice vaporetto. Think of it as public city bus on wheels, but with a far better view. Follow us on social network search for "muoversivenezia"

The vaporetto moves around a superb network of routes allowing you to explore Venice without having to do all the walking. Buying a travelcard allows you to hop on and off stations as and when you feel. You do have to be careful getting on and off the boats but the canal is usually pretty calm so its easy enough.

From Mestre Railway Station come to Jetty and take a boat to City of Venice. The journey is thru sea and you see all important buildings in venice city while on board. City view is best with this boat ride. Gondola Ride in Venice is in Stinky waters. You have to close your nose and take a ride.

Buy a 1,2 or 3 day pass or you'll end up spending a fortune - it costs €7.50 for a single ticket otherwise. A one day pass is €20, two day €30. The vaporettos run pretty much exactly to time in our experience but beware, at busy times they really pack you in! It's worth taking the number 1 down the whole length of the Grand Canal to see the sights but it's also worth getting on the number 2 which takes you down the Giudecca canal.

Buy the 1,2,or 7 day pass. Great deal. On and off as much as you like in all directions but will not take you to airport. Alilaguna water shuttle to airport ($27 round trip)

By a pass for however long you are going to be there and use them to take mini-cruises around the Islands. They are frequent and reliable. If you can get one with the seats in the front you can enjoy terrific views as you cruise around the canals. It is the only way to travel in Venice. However, make sure you board legally with a valid ticket or pass. They will conduct random checks to find cheaters.
