“The worst hostel in the WORLD!!!”

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
The owner is the most repulsive and rude man who operates a disgusting, overpriced and ill-managed hostel.
I have stayed in many, many hostels all over the world and have NEVER had such a bad experience. Upon arriving, i found my booking was lost and could only be offered two of the three nights I had booked. The owner/manager was utterly unprofessional, verbally abusive about the booking mistake and (the best word to use here) totally creepy! Also the price I was quoted when booking online was doubled upon arrival.

We got extremely lost trying to find the Hostel, so make sure you read the map on the website correctly and get off the water bus at the right stop. The location is great, once you get a handle on Venice streets you can easily find your way to St Marks Square and other locations from here. Although the website says you can pay on credit card on arrival we were told we had to pay by cash but one of the employees walked us to a ATM and back. The owner Antonio was really helpful directing us to where we wanted to go and giving us a lot of information on where to go in Venice both attractions and for food. I would recommend taking his advice.

Room Tip: Get there early for rooms at this location!

The hostel is slightly difficult to find, but the map on the website helped tremendously. The owner was almost always there and was ridiculously helpful with directions and showed us a great coffee shop and bakery very close by. It's somewhat expensive but it's Venice.

I was highly disappointed with this hostel. We originally booked a private room, single sex, for four girls. We booked through an online company, and whoever is responsible for this did not know we were coming. We were going to be split up in the main hostel location, but instead they placed in a room together in another building a five minute walk away. The building was not prepared for customers: we arrived and there were no rooms ready, there was no heat, there was no hot water, and there was no gas to heat the stove to at least heat water. The building was colder insider than outside. There was no lock on the door to our room. We were the only people in the building as well, including no workers. When we asked for a partial refund for the lack of amenities that we paid for, we were told no because our money was already useless to the owner and that other guests were paying much more than us... we are not the ones who set the price. The owner did not show up until 21:40 to turn on the heat when it was freezing outside, and told us that WE costed him so much money that day because his help at the main hostel location had to come to this location to fix all the problems such as not heat, no hot water, no gas for the stove. The owner also made us sleep outside the previous night because we arrived in the middle of the night and this made him angry, we "were not kind to him." Instead of being professional and answering the door and maybe letting us explain that we got lost as we booked a train to the wrong train station and had no WiFi to contact him, he yelled at us from the second story window to go away until 8am because he was mad that we woke him. We were told that we were allowed to leave our luggage, and he was able to open the door to let us put our luggage inside but he could not be bothered to let us into a room to sleep even though we had already paid a deposit and he had our billing information. We recognized that we did not contact him that we would be arriving as late as we did, so we decided to accept our mistake and spend the night on the street outside the hostel in freezing weather with our luggage. When we tried to discuss this with the hostel owner along with our request for a partial refund for a lack of amenities, he was very irrational about the situation, he continued to tell us we were wrong, and our money was useless, and we were not as important as other guests he had staying at the hostel. The only thing this hostel is useful for is it's location, I would never recommenced staying here after a very uncomfortable encounter with the owner. He is very unfriendly and he is not professional.

The best thing about this hostel was it's location, being easy to find in Venice was a good thing. We booked a room for 4, but when we arrived, they tried to put us into 2 rooms of 2. The staff did there best to sort this out, and ended up putting us in a room for 3 people, and brought in a folding bed. It made the room even smaller but it was fine. They also told us that bed sheets were an extra 5 Euros per person, but the sheets that were already on the beds were adequate for our 1 night stay. We booked this hostel based on the price and location, and i have no complaints about either of those.

My bofriend and I booked a private room which was also the most expensive option. We got put in the attic and were informed that we'd have to pay extra for bedding (only a crusty old sheet and pillow). One of the long term guests checked us in and took our payment, I still have no idea who actually runs the place but it looked like just a bunch of young people on holiday.

Don't book the pvt room, you have to squeeze past the kitchen up a tiny set of stairs and the shared bathroom asigned to you is disgusting. I don't think that toilet had been cleaned in months! Location - great. Everything else - terrible. It's so sad because the place had potential. It just needs a good clean and a proper manager.

Room Tip: Book a room at a different place

I liked my stay here. The place was clean, had lockers and a kitchen and the staff was really welcoming and friendly. Close to most places. I'd stay here again.
