Owner description: This world famous opera house, burned to the ground in 1996, has been rebuilt amongst much scandal and drama: its modern beauty and complex history ensure its place among the most celebrated monuments in Italian history.

What a magnificent theater. Although rebuilt twice since it originally opened inthe1790s it looks authentic...especially cool to sit in the Imperial box where Napoleon once viewed a performance.

What can I say? It premiered in 1853 at La Fenice and we saw it in 2013. While a bit contemporary in some ways, still wonderful performance.

Attended a performance of Carmen - wonderful voices, superb production overall. While tickets are expensive, a production at La Fenice is not to be missed if you are at all a fan of opera.

Good self-guided audio tours lead you through the rooms and the interesting history of La Fenice. It was originally decorated in colors of the Phoenix and that became prophetic as it has been rebuilt several times after burning. This was our second trip to Venice and am glad we added La Fenice to our touring agenda!

Went to the opera - brilliant albeit pricey but the highlight of our visit - tried for the backstage tour but they wanted 9 euros for a tour excluding backstage so didn't bother - you can wander freely during the interval. Wish I could be there now!
