“hidden gem”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

I was surprised to be among only about 10 people visiting this beautiful theater. The crowd in Piazza San Marco made me claustrophobic and it was a perfect retreat to enjoy the magnificence of the theater on a hot summer day.

“A spectacular theatre”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The walk around using the head phones was interesting and very informative.
Sensational history.
The private rooms were a revelation of how the theatre goers in the know live.

“My Italy Trip”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

On my own, I probably wouldn't have considered visiting here but I was with my daughter who is a mezzo soprano and lives for her opera. Once inside I was awestruck. With your admission, you get an electronic device for listening to an explanation of each of the places that you stop on your tour through the building. After hearing about 4 of the recordings at different stops you begin the realize the details in the design. The considerations for appearance, acoustics and for accommodating over 1000 patrons must have taken forever. If I recall correctly, the most recent renovation took 1 million man hours to complete. The building is quite beautiful inside and it has preserved some of the original structure from its beginnings around 1800. You won't be disappointed.

“Dark but beautiful”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Read City of Falling Angels for the story of the fire at La Fenice before you go! The teatro was Dark, that is, no opera. But the decoration was magnificant.
