We followed the Tripadvisor 'Cultural Heart of Venice' walking tour from the Venice City Guide on my phone (highly recommended, by the way!) and arrived at this theatre. We decided to take the tour which came with a free audio guide and it was just so good. The foyer is supremely elegant but the auditorium simply takes your breath away as does the ballroom, There was a rehearsal going on when we were there which made it even more interesting. Highly recommended!

This theatre is absolutely stunning and a must-visit when in Venice. It is beautifully decorated and the self-guided audio tour is included in the admission price. Only a short stroll away from Piazza San Marco as well

The Fenice thetre is an amazing place. I had the opportunity to attend to a Capo Danno concert about 5 years ago which was fantastic. This year on the 31st however the performance was very underwhelming, the piece chosen not appropriate for a cheerful event, and the entire thing lacked 'gusto'. I blame the entire 'fiasco' on the conductor who had trouble rousing enough clapping to honor his orchestra, and his soprano and tenorwhich were both fantastic and 'in the mood', but unfortunately we saw much too little of them, and the 'encore' was only that: the repeat of the exact same piece which seemed contrite on the second take. Even more annoying was the first double-bass player who could not control his instrument and only noticed at the end when the conductor finally talked to him, too little too late! I hope they captured a better performance for TV! Bring back the magic!

We love Covent Garden, we enjoyed La Scala, the ENO is an old favourite but La Fenice steals your heart. Its just too pretty for words -so I am saying nothing, if you can, just go. Oxfordwaxlyrical

La Fenice is a medium sized theatre with several tiers of boxes. The self-guided visit is excellent. the theatre and its ornate decoration is very beautiful.
