During a two-week trip to Italy, the Hotel Hesperia was hands-down the best place we stayed. It’s located about five minutes from the Santa Lucia train station, but is tucked away on a calm street (note: because Venice is a huge tourist destination, there are still some revelers outside who occasionally might make noise, though), so it's the best of both worlds: liveliness and shopping, but a calm place to retire to. My brother and his fiancee’s room was a sort of penthouse suite on the roof, very private and romantic, with a beautiful view. Mine was a charming, typically Venetian room (with Venetian glass chandelier and colorful stone floor) that was comfortable, clean, and full of ambiance. Both rooms had en-suite bathrooms that were clean and full of character, too, with different color schemes and tilework. It was very cold when we were in Venice - it even snowed a bit - but the rooms were very well heated; I even turned down my radiator a bit. The rooms only cost about 50-60 euro per person, per night, and there was a free buffet breakfast that my fellow travelers deemed fantastic. The staff were so friendly and very patient when we had questions about how to get somewhere. We felt welcomed and appreciated. If you’re going to Venice, I can’t recommend this hotel enough – we were really, really impressed by it.

Room Tip: If you're taking a romantic trip to Venice, ask the hotel if their top-floor room is available. It's cut off enough from the rest of the hotel to feel romantic and private...though my brother and his fiancee were a little surprised at fellow guests who decided to come up and check out the view from the communal terrace in the morning!

Delightful experience. Staff was wonderful. Very convenient location, while being just off the beaten path. Delicious breakfast. Charming breakfast room. Close to the Vaparetto stop. Room was small but emmaculate and comfortable. Would go again, hope I can. Great restaurants nearby. Good value.

Right on a canal across from a local boat stop. Restaurants and shops in the area, easy access to all of Venice. Breakfast included in dining room off lobby. We stayed in an apartment which opened to the small street . . . charming!! Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and information. Hotel and room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: There is no elevator. There are rooms upstairs in the hotel, and apartment suites down the street (very safe, comfortable neighborhooe).

I have just returned from a weekend away with my partner. We both loved the hotel, very clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location from the main attractions (15mins from the Grand Canal & 20mins from St. Marco Sq) and the water bus service is right outside the hotel. Breakfast is good and we had our sheets and towels changed the second night we was there.

Room Tip: Request a Canal view & room with a private bathroom.

Excellent location near the train and bus station, from hotel to St. Marco Square is it about 30 minutes by walk. We reserved a room with external bathroom, upon arrival we got a free room with private bathroom. Breakfast was good (slices of cheese, ham, toasts, cereals, yogurt, croissants, jams ...), very helpful and friendly staff.
We enjoyed staying in this hotel very well.

In summer there may be enough mosquitoes, we stayed here in January and in the room were a few mosquitoes, but I mean, that problem with mosquitoes is in summer in most of hotels in Venice.
