Booked the Double standard for a night. The room was very tiny .There was a table on which the TV was kept and that table was very close to the bed.Viola that was the room.

The other issue is that this hotel is walking from accademia water bus stop. So if you are coming by water bus with heavy luggage be prepared to carry suitcases up and down the bridge.

Dea Client,

the size of our double classic room is shown on our website. Unfortunately as your review is anonymous we cannot verify the informations provided. Regarding the location yes we are very close to Accademy Bridger, only one small bridge from Accademia and Zattere. In Venice everithing is within walking distance.

Kind Regards
Hotel American Dinesen

Hotel American Dinesen offers both hotel rooms and apartments. We picked their apartment #2 and felt very lucky during our stay. The large loft-style apartment contained a kitchen, upstairs sleeping area with closets, and a pullout sofa with a double bed. To top it off, the bathroom was huge by European standards and has a washing machine. Not fancy, but the unit has all the needed conveniences along with a wonderful quiet Ponte dell'Accademia location -- perfect for a longer Venice stay. In the area, there is supermarket, along with restaurants, boutiques, and art museums. It's about a 30 minute vaporetto to the train station. The staff was very helpful and would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: There is A/C noise when the unit is running. Otherwise, all is quiet in the room.

This was our second visit to Hotel American and it won't be our last. We stayed in the apartments next door which had all the convience of self catering whilst attached to the hotel amenities. Apartment fully equipped and close to Grand canal but on quieter Guidecca Canal just 15 mins on Vaparetto from train station ( no 5.1)
Alberto on reception could not have been more helpful and we will be back!

My family has thoroughly enjoyed our stay here so far and regret having to leave! We loved the convenience of direct water taxi delivery to the hotel from the airport - truly a stunning entrance. The canal the hotel is located on is quiet but close to the impressive la accademia gallery. Also Guggenheim nearby. Supermarket is also nearby but why bother with that when there are yummy food places a abounding nearby! Only downside is the wifi is a bit temper mental in the apartments & very high windows but high ceilings. We also enjoyed the little patio area on the 1st floor of the hotel bit next door to our apartment. Overall superb & would love to get a chance to stay again!!!

Great location and walking distance to key attractions. Short walk for the boats to take you to Muano, Burano, etc. Considering the location and standard of accommodation the price is reasonable. Friendly staff. Room nice and clean. Free wifi.

Room Tip: For a better view, ask to overlook the canal.

The location of this hotel suited us perfectly. It is just two minutes from the Galleria Accademia and the Ponte dell'Accademia yet it is even closer to the quiet and pleasant streets of Dorsodoro. We stayed in a very nice first floor room overlooking the canal and with a view out of one window to the Grand Canal. The standard of decor in the room was high, and generally everything was clean and well maintained. The bathroom too was fine, though the base of the bath was rounded and caution was needed when getting in and out of the shower. Breakfast was in a pleasant ground floor room with a good choice of sweet and savoury items, although do get in early if you like hard boiled eggs.
Most members of staff (including the cleaners) were very friendly and polite. We we would happily recommend this hotel to anyone seeking good quality and comfort in a central location.
PS: Right next door there is also a good restaurant, Cantinone Storico, which serves a nice selection of fresh fish and other local dishes.

We are correcting our review.

The receptionist on check out over charged us by 60 Euro as an accident: She said the phone call she answered distracted her. When we said we were in a rush for our train, she said "I waited for you to check out, now you can wait for me". So we waited for her to fix her over charge and missed our train. Had we not checked the credit card receipt we would not have noticed. Separately, the breakfast is not worth the additional charge. The little cafe behind the hotel is sweet and the food by far is much better.

Dear Mrs Samantha P.
We truly regret to read your disappointment regarding the service provided by our staff. We do apologize for the mistake made by Elisabetta at check out but we need to clarify that she just made an error, the Hotel American Dinesen DOESN’T CHEAT !
Elisabetta for sure didn’t mean to be rude, she just made an error and asked you to be patient for a couple of min.in order to arrange the refund through the machine.
Regarding the service you forgot to mention that Elisabetta did not charge you the late check out fee as you left the room almost at 13.00 (1.00 pm), evenif checkout time is within 11.00 (both reception and housekeeping advised you twice that check out was within 11.00). Please also note that Elisabetta did not even charge you the two cappuccino that you requested (served in the room) after breakfast time. Also Elisabetta, as per your request, found and reserved for you an hair stylist that you requested, lastminute, for August 16th (very difficult to find due to the national holiday). Evenif you had a reservation with the hairstylist you DID NOT show up to her and you didn’t even ask the reception nor the hairdresser to cancel the reservation you had. Regarding breakfast comments are always welcome as this is the best way to improve our services.
We hope you had a good journey to your next destination and we remain at your disposal.
We regret for the inconvenience.

Kind Regards
Alberto S.
