This hotel has the great advantage of being very-well situated near the Accademia Bridge on a quiet canal. Within 5 minutes walk, there are a range of good restaurants and cafes close to the Grand Canal and down on the Zattere. Minutes away are the splendid Peggy Guggenheim and Accademia Art Galleries.

The staff in the hotel especially Marco could not have been more helpful. We asked for (and got) one of the nicest rooms in the establishment well worth the climb to the second floor as the two terraces offered a splendid view of the canal and the room was spacious.

We certainly would make a point of going back to this hotel on our return - a great base for exploring Venice.

We chose to return to this hotel because we had previously enjoyed a perfect stay here when it had been recommended by relatives. This time we were accompanied by our teenage granddaughter and felt confident that she would be comfortable here. We were given spacious, well equipped, immaculate rooms next to each other with balconies overlooking the canal. Nothing was too much trouble for the team of English speaking staff. They were friendly and helpful to all our needs including letting us know of a 24 hour vaporetto strike so that we could rearrange our itinerary. The hotel is ideally located in a quiet residential area where we see much Venetian day-to-day life going on yet is only minutes from The Accademia, The Peggy Guggenheim Collection and some good restaurants overlooking the Guidecca Canal where there are also vaporetto stops. Very close to the hotel there are a number of small shops and benches where you can watch the traffic on the Grand Canal if you have a few minutes to fill, as we did when waiting for our water taxi to arrive. We will certainly return to Hotel American Dinesen next time we visit Venice and will recommend it to those of our family and friends who have not stayed here already. Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our stay such a happy one.

This hotel is lovely, with beautiful rooms and a great quiet & beautiful location. I had room 107 which was a venetian jewl box of a room, quite spacious enough for one, but was a "regular double" and would have been pretty tight for 2- as are most rooms in Europe. However my sister had room 5 which was very modern and very spacious (it may have been a "superior double").
The staff was warm, friendly & helpful. The breakfast had a lot of variety, good food & a lovely atmosphere. And, I forgot to mention, extremely clean!

Lovely hotel 2 minute walk from Accademia bridge on the Grand Canal. Our room was very comfortable and overlooked the canal which runs alongside the front of the hotel. The water taxi usually stops right outside - you can step off and walk straight into hotel reception.
The breakfast was a nice continental style, with great coffee!
The staff all spoke good English and were extremely helpful and charming.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra for a room overlooking the canal, it was lovely!

Stayed here 2 nights 6/7 April. Room 108 first floor overlooking canal. Older style hotel inside - some original features. Smallish room. Clean 4 piece bathroom with hairdryer and toiletries. Tiny balcony for one overlooks canal. Electric shutters on windows to keep it dark at night. Heating in room worked well (needed first night). Nice little terrace at back of hotel. Very good, plentiful breakfast - croissants, hams, salami, cheeses, cakes, cereals, boiled eggs etc. The service was fantastic - in evening they would make us coffee or produce drinks for us etc. Thoroughly recommend.

When we first got in from the airport, taking the Alilaguna seems ages to get to town. Finally, we got in after a 90 min journey to the Zaterre stop. It cost Euro 15 per person per journey, far cheaper than taking the water taxi .Took us some 4 minutes walk to get to the hotel. It was a pleasent decorated place in v good condition. Well heated and the showers were nice and strong though we were up on the second floor. Coffee and tea were complimentary and it was a nice warmer after getting in on a cold wet night. Staff were good and very helpful and breakfast was nice, too. Realised we were not in a commercial area but yet very strategically located. The Accademia waterboat stop is also some 3 minutes away.Be warned, you cant get your waterboat tickets from the counter after 9am, however machines are available. Walking to Piazza Marco Polo is approximatelly 15 mins from the hotel, you need to cross the main Accademia bridge and then 2 or 3 bridges. So,being in the hotel is like being close to where the activities are but itucked away in a quiet surrounding.
Going back to the airport, the Alilaguna is every hour, as we had an early flight at 9am to catch,we took the water taxi. It was a fun 30 min ride and quite a nice experience but the damage was Euro120. Will definetely come back to this immaculately run hotel

We stayed in the Dependance, which adjoins the main hotel. This is a great area to stay if you have a mobility issue, as there are only a couple of small steps at the entrance. The price in off season was wonderful, and the rooms were incredibly spacious. There is even an outside patio (though we didn't take advantage as the weather was not great while we were there). The bathrooms were really stylish, the beds very comfortable, and it felt downright luxurious for a bunch of budget travelers. The location is wonderful, (it's on a lovely and quiet section of canal), and very close to everything. We enjoyed the complimentary Murano glass tour- it is a sales attempt, but you don't have to buy anything and it didn't feel overly pushy. The only wish I have is that breakfast would be included in the stay at the Dependance. But not really a true complaint as it allowed us to discover a delicious bakery down the street.
