This was my first trip to Venice so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The hotel was excellent. Location could not have been better as it was just around the corner from the Accedemia stop and easily accessible to everywhere by foot. The room was small but very clean. The bathroom was also small but the water pressure was wonderful and the hot water extremely hot both day and night! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with an array of things. The morning I left was acqua alta and it began flooding right outside of the hotel. I ordered a water taxi and due to the flooding I could not get it right outside of the hotel. They gave me boots and used a cart to keep my luggage from getting soaked to get down to where the taxi could pick me up. Breakfast was good, although some warm options would have been nice. Overall a great place with a great staff! Would stay here again for sure!

We stayed in this Hotel in 2009 and enjoyed the Hotel and location so much that we stayed there again in August 2012. Our room, which overlooked the canal, was average size, clean and comfortable. We appreciated the tea and coffee making available in the room. The location, near the Accademia bridge is excellent, situated in a quiet neighborhood, yet minutes away from the famous tourist spots. There are many good restaurants nearby and having a quiet drink beside the canal after a busy day was very enjoyable. We appreciated that the Hotel had its own water taxi stop. Other advantages such as free wi-fi, buffet breakfast which included cereals, fruits and continental style foods and friendly and helpful staff as well as the reasonable cost for a superior three star hotel made for another great stay in Venice. We will certainly stay here again when we next visit Venice.

Room Tip: I agree with other Reviewers - book a room with a canal view it is worth the extra cost.

The staff is very nice and responsive
The room we had (202) was very clean corresponded to the description on the website
The location is very convenient in a relatively quiet area but not too far from San Marco

Room Tip: Rooms on the canal (for ex. 202) are of great value

The ornate Venetian decor is more flowery than I'd want in my house, but is certainly what I wanted for my first trip to Venice. I was disappointed no canal view rooms were available when I booked or when we checked in, but our room was fine--as well as less expensive and probably quieter--but no view, just a narrow walkway and brick wall out the window. We had plenty of canal time during our two days in Venice so ultimately we didn't feel deprived.
Room 104 is at the top of the stairs from the lobby (there is no elevator) so I was concerned it would be noisy. It was not. The room walls are covered in fabric and sound between rooms and from the hall was minimal. Some noise from the room above.

Clean, modern baths with nice toiletries, but in ours, very tight space for knees between the toilet and bidet. Room safe, a minibar--but no wine in it. Got a glass from the front desk (E2.50) when we wanted to sit on the 1st floor patio one evening (no view unfortunately--located at the back of the building).
Extensive continental breakfast buffet in a pretty room off the lobby with plenty of cereal, bread & pastry options, fruit, yogurt, sliced meats, cheeses and hard boiled eggs.
Pleasant staff. Marco at the front desk is very helpful.

Location turned out to be great. Plenty of tourists of course, but a somewhat residential area so it didn't feel overrun with tourists like the San Marco or Rialto areas.
Venice hotels are expensive, and in early October, this hotel was too--priciest place we stayed in 10 days of touring Italy. But it's absolutely worth it to pay more to stay IN Venice than commute from the mainland.

We greatly enjoyed our 4-night stay. The accomodations were excellent; we had a nice balcony where we could sit and sip wine overlooking the canal. The room and bathroom quality and size were all more then adequate. The location is superb, in a quiet neighborhood, yet minutes away from as much of Venice that you want to see. great accomodating staff, and an excellent breakfast each morning.

We had stayed here in 2009 for four nights and returned for a longer visit to Venice & the surrounding islands & area the first week of October. We booked well in advance, and requested the same canal-view room, which has three little balconies affording views of the San Vio canal, the Grand Canal to the right and the Giudecca canal to the left. Happily they were able to accommodate our request, which was very much appreciated. We arrived via water taxi and were happy to see Marco was still working there, helpful and kind as ever! Our lovely room was quiet, with good air conditioning, which we were happy about, as it was quite warm (some days it was 25 but with the humidex closer to the high 20's). We love the Dorsoduro sestiere - quieter and less touristy -- we spent many happy days exploring the squares, alleys and shops. In the mornings, there is nothing prettier than opening the french doors, standing on the balcony with a cup of tea and watching the neighbourhood come alive, especially before the sun burns the mist off the canal - the art galleries opening up, the restaurant next door getting its deliveries and the gondoliers quietly arriving and polishing their boats. It's really Venice at its most magical. With a bit of exploration, one can find many excellent restaurants nearby, some of which I've recently reviewed. At the end of the evening, we would enjoy a glass of wine on our little balcony and watch the world float by, which was a perfect end to the day. The hotel is also conveniently situated to the Accademia & Zattere vaporetto stops and a short hop to the Accademia bridge, allowing access to the San Marco area. We were a bit rushed the morning we left (we actually had to return because we forgot a piece of luggage!) and so didn't have a chance to write our thanks in the hotel's guest book -- but I can certainly say we loved our time here and will be back again.

Room Tip: Get a canal view room - it is worth it!

We stayed three nights at the Hotel American Dinesen in room 110 which was average size, and a well stocked bathroom , a pretty room, clean, quite & comfortable with free wi-fi. It has a small balcony overlooking the San Vio canal and a view towards the Grand Canal. Our room rate included breakfast which was a self service buffet with a good mixture of fresh fruits and continental style foods, the cost was reasonable for a superior three star hotel in this quite expensive city.
The staff were always friendly & very helpful (they had tickets for the concert at the Chiesa San Vidal).
Situated in the Dorsoduro sestiere just a short walk from the Accademia bridge and the Peggy Guggenhiem collection, the hotel is located in a very convenient position. The vaporetto (ferry) stop was just 200 metres from the hotel for trips to the Rialto or San Marco Piazza or for a wander in the quieter section of Venice.
We would certainly recommend this very nice hotel as a base from which to explore this wonderful city.

Room Tip: Room 110 was a pretty room with a small balcony overlooking the canal.
