“Pleasant & Convenient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

We stayed three nights at the Hotel American Dinesen in room 110 which was average size, and a well stocked bathroom , a pretty room, clean, quite & comfortable with free wi-fi. It has a small balcony overlooking the San Vio canal and a view towards the Grand Canal. Our room rate included breakfast which was a self service buffet with a good mixture of fresh fruits and continental style foods, the cost was reasonable for a superior three star hotel in this quite expensive city.
The staff were always friendly & very helpful (they had tickets for the concert at the Chiesa San Vidal).
Situated in the Dorsoduro sestiere just a short walk from the Accademia bridge and the Peggy Guggenhiem collection, the hotel is located in a very convenient position. The vaporetto (ferry) stop was just 200 metres from the hotel for trips to the Rialto or San Marco Piazza or for a wander in the quieter section of Venice.
We would certainly recommend this very nice hotel as a base from which to explore this wonderful city.

Room Tip: Room 110 was a pretty room with a small balcony overlooking the canal.

A three-day stay prior to boarding the WindSurf cruise ship (walking distance to that pier) was very pleasant. Very nice breakfast buffet, very quiet room, which was appreciated after 27 hours of travel. San Marco square is about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.
Water taxi from the airport to the Hotel American is at this date E110.
Not an abundance of good restaurants close, You need to walk a bit, in the direction of San Marco square, for more dining selections.

This hotel has a great location on a quiet canal, yet close to the Grand Canal. The Academia vaparetto stop was very close by. Beautiful decor in a very large "family room" located in the building next door. Breakfast was good and cappuccino was offered every morning. There is a computer in the lobby for use by hotel guests.

We stayed at the Hotel American Dinesen for our first year wedding anniversary. The hotel is in a great location just off from the grand canal away from the chaos of San Marco. Easy to get to from the airport using the vaperetto service. The rooms are large with good size, clean bathroom. The breakfast is very good and the service excellent.

Prior to a Med. cruise from Venice, we spent two nights here ... how pleased we were! Our large room had decent A/C, a clean & modern bathroom with a pretty bedroom, incl. a good bed & lovely Murano chandelier. We loved our large balcony on the second floor overlooking a small, quiet canal, a block away from the Guidecca Canal. We walked easily to the wonderful Guggenheim Art Gallery/home. Hotel is also only a few blocks from St. Mark's Square. Very good location & a lovely boutique hotel in a quiet area. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Hope to return one day!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a room facing the canal!

Great location, away from the chaos of San Marco but close enough to be convenient. Stayed for three nights...convenient. Hotel booked us a taxi to murano and to the hotel. Rooms are large, breakfast is very good. The help at the desk is very good, helpful with directions. This was my second stay in Venice and my second stay at the hotel American....I will return to both.

Easy to get to from the train station via the Vaparetto service, this was a great hotel to stay in. We stayed for 3 nights and found the room was really clean, nicely furnished and the security of having a safe was great. Was hoping for a nice view from the windows but it was just into the back yard, but that wasnt a major issue as we were just using the room to sleep in, for views go outside! The staff were very helpful with any questions and even held onto our luggage for us on the last day as our flight wasn't til late afternoon. Breakfast was a vast buffet choice, don't expect too much from the coffee tho!
