“Great Hotel at a Great Price in a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Located on a narrow and intimate pedestrian road 100m from San Marco Sq., this hotel boasts comfort along with elegance in its rooms and the breakfasts are quite good. The rooms are of classic victorian style. We were more than satisfied with our choice in a hotel for Venice as this hotel is just minutes by foot to the public transport boat. We would return for sure !

Room Tip: They offer free trips to Murano.

We stayed for 3 nights. We had a lovely spacious room, very clean, afforadable minibar, friendly & helpful staff, excellent location, reception booked an opera for us. The breakfast room could have been a little more spacious, but no complaints really.!

This was my second stay at Hotel Montecarlo in Venice. I was attracted primarily by the hotel's location, and they also had reasonable accommodations for 3 people.

Our room was rather large and had very traditional Venetian decor. The bathroom was freshly renovated and was both spacious and tastefully elegant.

I was grateful that the concierge offered to drop off the key to the previous hotel room where we had stayed and accidentally forgotten to turn it in. He said he lived in the neighborhood and would swing by that property. This was greatly appreciated.

On the last night there was a huge group of Albanian youngsters occupying the floor above us, and they were unbelievably noisy. The reception guy that evening was not exactly responsive to requests for help and it took me three trips going downstairs to get him to actively address the issue (and with all my travels I have never encountered that level of noise in a hotel). The next morning the front desk manager apologized, though.

Their breakfast has a great variety of offerings. The room where the breakfast is served is very elegant too. We would usually go down early in the mornings, and it was not crowded at all. One morning we went down pretty late in the morning, and it was very crowded.

Overall, Hotel Montecarlo is a very dependable choice.

I booked into the Hotel Montecarlo for my week's stay in Venice, largely on the strength of the comments on Tripadvisor. I wasn't disappointed, and frankly, for what it is, I couldn't fault this property in any way. The service was uniformly excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, the room, although small, (this is Europe after all), was clean, cosy and comfortable. Some folks might not like the sound of the campanile chiming the hours, but I thought it was kind of romantic, and with the window closed, it wasn't very pronounced, and certainly didn't disturb my sleep. The breakfasts in the morning were great, with a fine array of hot and cold 'vittles' to tempt the taste buds. Also, free tea and coffee making facilities can be supplied on request in your room. The location of the hotel is fantastic, a stone's throw away from St Mark's Square. This is a great budget hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone!

We were in Venice for just one night in mid november and we chose this hotel due to its location and convenient check in time. It was the perfect choice. The location is truly amazing especially if you have less time on your hands. The rooms were clean and comfortable and Dario at the reception was warm and friendly and helped us out with information, wifi access, murano visit etc. and that too with a warm smile. The breakfast was very good and was a wide spread.

We stayed in two hotels during our vacation and while the other one was good, I felt the Best Western was better. Let it be said, it's not a 5-star hotel but for the location (not even a block away from Piazza San Marcos, attention and price, I feel it deserves it deserves a 5-star rating here. The decor if a bit old, trying to go for the flowery-cottagy feel of the 1800's? The bathroom was a bit small, it is Venice. I did love the fact that they provided free wi-fi with a code. The service was really good as well. The breakfast area is pretty, resembling a train cabin of the 'olden days which I thought was pretty cool as well. They did offer us the trip to Murano via boat which we took since we had pretty much explored all of Venice. We had read previous reviews so we were aware they were going to try and sell us stuff. I think the most enjoyable part was the water taxi ride to the place. The factory was interesting, but we thought it would be a longer tour of the glass blowing part. Most of it was spent inside the store which has several rooms and it was a bit uncomfortable trying to get out from buying anything - not in my nature! They brought us back but left us in the other side of Venice, which was a bit annoying - fair to say, we didn't think about this so we never specified a drop off location. When we left, they arranged a water taxi for us and they helped us with our luggage which we appreciated.
