They had a problem with our reservation, but then they upgraded our suite and we stayed in a great room!

At breakfast we had to wait a while for a table at the restaurant, because it was to crowded. The breakfast is not the best (we had better at other hotels in Italy!), but it was ok!

Great location, near Piazza San Marco!

Would stay there again!

This hotel is a real treat, and it manages to accomplish several desirable tasks at once. It's reasonably close to both St. Mark's and the Rialto without being in the middle of the stampede; it's located on a pair of quiet side canals, which give you a pleasant introduction to this unusual city; and it's friendly and up-to-date while still capturing a great deal of history. The owners are maintaining this 16th century building beautifully and have given it a warm and charming decor, both in the guestrooms and the public spaces. Breakfast is served in a beautiful glass-roofed courtyard or in the adjoining dining rooms, and I have to say I'm surprised at the negative reviews. True, the chef has managed a lurid and unbelievable shade of yellow in his runny scrambled eggs, but otherwise there's the usual wide variety of pastries, excellent baked goods, fruit, cheese, meats, yogurts, etc. (Of all cities in Italy, Venice is the last to look to for excellent cuisine, anyway; with that in mind, this breakfast is way above the norm.) The staff is courteous.

A super hotel in the heart of Venice. For us, the location took some beating. Rooms are surprisingly large and airy. Breakfast was fairly uninspiring. I can't comment on the restaurant, as we eat out in the evening. Due to the location, we were spoilt for choice. Other reviewers have commented on the need to move off the tourist routes and find the real Venice, there is plenty of it to find - enjoy!

We booked the hotel as part of a BA Holiday and were very happy with the choice. A lovely contemporary feel, beautiful decor and the staff were outstanding. We changed rooms after 2 nights and the request was handled swiftly and with a lot of smiles. Second room was far better, perhaps we suffered from 'the package holiday room' to begin with but even that one was superbly clean, great shower, very comfortable beds but it was a disabled room. The golden rule - always always ask to change if you are not happy. Previous comments about breakfast are fair, a bit disappointing, lukewarm cappuccino from a machine - in Italy!! The hotel is in fantastic location mid way between St Marks Square and the Rialto bridge, incredible shopping very close and so many restaurants to chose from. If you stay there do book a water taxi transfer to/.from the airport, the hotel has a landing stage and we felt like film stars arriving and leaving!

Room tip: Ask for a canal room, a lot of rooms face the inner courtyard where the restaurant is and it can be noisy. Rooms do have shutters and that does cut down the external noise if you lean out and shut them!

Great location and very comfortable rooms but the worst breakfast I have ever experienced. It was very poor quality food for a four star hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable and I would stay again just for the location and room comfort, but the breakfast was truly awful and we had to go out each day instead. The set Christmas lunch, was fortunately very good but my partner was subsequently very sick, which continued throughout the evening. Because it was a fish menu, we didn’t blame the hotel as it was just one of those things. In the evening I wanted to have something to eat myself and went to the bar to have a snack of some sort. However I was told that they didn't serve food in the bar or lounge. Because I would have felt uncomfortable eating alone in a restaurant on Christmas night amidst families and couples, I was forced to go out and find something to eat. This is not the quality of service I expected. It was a big disappointment. Serving a good breakfast and good customer service should be an opportunity to demonstrate quality, not an afterthought.
