Owner description: DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

“Wonderful guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

I've left it rather late to put up this review, but finally here we are. Went on a cruise which started off in Venice so we arrived a day early to savour the sights of Venice rather than just climb on the ship. Found Patrizia on trip advisor & after a shakey start (emails being sent straight to spam) we finally arranged a 3 hour walking & boat trip. Arrived at 11am and met the wonderful Patrizia, I'm Sicilian n my partner is english & her english was super he understood everything. She was most interesting and really knew her stuff. We went to the doges palace & then into st marks cathedral (by passing all the queues) then we went on a private taxi boat around Venice. Forget about gondolas unless u want to get shafted we saw so much stuff in an hour that u would of only seen a quarter by gondola. Plus the gondoliers don't sing & make you feel special. We however felt like Angelina Jolie & Johnny depp in our private taxi infact we had lots of tourists taking photos of us! (Could of been my pink hair thou). We did pay €300 for everything which is a bit steep but I guess you have to bear in mind that everything in Venice is expensive. And we really did get a feel for the history. Thank you so much patrizia truly a wonderful kind person, & I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write this review! A presto!

“A private tour tailor made to suit your interests and needs.”

Antonella our guide was just beautiful from start to finish.
Professional yet personable she was able to answer every question thrown to her by our inquisitive children. Even " Does Venice have a soccer team?"
She was thoughtful, kind and extremely knowledgable.
We were overwhelmed with our kids questions and knew that we needed a local to answer them and to bring the wonderful Venetian history alive for them.
This tour was PERFECT for us.

“Highlight of Venice Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

For our first visit to Venice my wife and I chose to pre-book a tour with DiscoveringVenice. I had an email exchange with Antonella who provided suggestions and options. We settled on a 3 hour walking tour and met Antonella at the water front, St. Mark's square.

We strolled across St.Mark's square with Antonella pointing out and describing the many architectural aspects of the Basilica, Palace and Campanile. We were introduced to Saint Mark, the Doges and the development of Venice over the centuries. Our next 1-2 hours were spent inside the Basilica and the Doges' palace where we enjoyed being shown the awe-inspiring artworks and hearing accounts to accompany them. What we enjoyed is that the buildings were brought alive; without our guide we would simply have missed the 'plot'.

To round off, we took a short stroll into the Castello district and then back to the Rialto Bridge. Along the way we learned about the 'village' like construction of Venice and discovered many more beautiful sites deserving a re-visit with the camera.

Antonella is a delightful, warm, friendly person, who knows her native city and its history extremely well! It was like walking with a familiar friend. Hopefully we will return to Venice and meet with Antonella to learn more about her beautiful city.

Well done DiscoveringVenice. Thank you to Antonella for making our first visit so memorable!

“Venezia Tour w/Patrizia Bracceschi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

We spent several hours touring Venezia w/guide Patrizia Bracceschi and had a wonderful time. She paced our adventure to our small (5 adults) group, allowed plenty of time for photos, and provided excellent fact-filled commentary and "local knowedge." Patrizia is a native Venetian, and her familiarity with Venezia made our tour even more enjoyable; in adition her English is impeccable! Ms Bracceschi also arranged a chartered water-taxi tour via the Grand Canal, which capped the day with spectacular vistas and more fun facts. When our tour ended, Patrizia gave us clear walking directions to the train station, which we found with no problem. I strongly recommend hiring Patrizia Bracceschi, especially if you have just one day to see ALL the sights of Venezia

“Great guided tour of Venice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

Antonella led us on a delightful tour of Venice. She really knows Venice, and let us give input on what we wanted to do and see. She is tremendously knowledgable, easy to understand, and seemed to know when to offer information and when to just let us soak in the wonders. It was a real pleasure to get all the highlights in an efficient and enjoyable way. I will definitely be back to this wonderful city, and will look up DiscoveringVenice again!
