I wanted a special birthday treat for my husband but was finding a difficult time booking a beautiful room in Venice where my two kids could also stay with us...when we arrived to the Hotel Monaco there was an initial misunderstanding as sharing 'existing bedding' was apparently not the case though we had been led to believe that by our agora reservation. Luckily, Mrs. Carmen, looked into it as my children had been so excited to stay. We ended up getting an upgrade to a luxurious 2 room suite overlooking the grand canal at no extra cost (except payment for two extra breakfast which we were more than willing to do. The buffet plates was not too extensive but the view made up for it). The hotel is wonderful, the lobby is very impressive, but the highlight was the room with Murano chandeliers and great views-a very memorable holiday!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room overlooking the canal. It might be pricier but the views are wonderful.

The Hotel Monaco located on the Grand Canal in Venice is in a prime location on the Grand Canal and adjacent to St Marks Square. Our room was top class in terms of appointments, luxuriously stocked, huge walk in shower but overall somewhat small as is consistent with European rooms in older hotels. Service and all staff were top class. The breakfasts were good but nothing special. Evening meals were grossly overpriced but to sit outside on the Grand Canal for dinner ws a wonderful experience. This is a great hotel but there are certainly better deals to be had in Venice for very nice hotels

Room Tip: If price is important then shop around Hotel Monaco may not be the one for you as price point is ver...

We had been booked into the Pallazo Selvedago but upon arrival at The Hotel Monnaco where you have to check in we were told they had to move us to The Hotel Monnaco (which they professed was a huge upgrade) as they did not have a room available. For a supposedly upscale hotel, I am SO dissappointed. The rooms are dated and not just tired, but exhausted! The carpets are worn and the bathroom has mildew-yuck! My breakfast was included in the rate. The buffet normally costs ?25/person. It was an under whelming presentation and the food lacked flavor. You can definitely do better elsewhere!

Sitting outside on the terrace, with a view of the gondolas, the grand canal, and the island across from you -- truly a "pinch me because I'm dreaming" moment! There's a gondola dock right next to it, so we managed to grab a ride from there during a time when it wasn't busy (rare!), and after the ride was finished, we got a table and enjoyed a Spritz or two while taking in the view. Unforgettable!

Pure convenience! Just steps from the San Marco vaporetto stop, with views across to San Giorgio Isole; a 5-minute walk to the Accademia Bridge; a water taxi dock on the Grand Canal; and a 3-minute walk to la Fenice, the great opera house. Not as high-tone as the Gritti or Daniele but a great alternative. The staff could not be more courteous or helpful. Be sure to do breakfast outdoors, overlooking the Grand Canal.

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view or a high floor—low floors can be dark.

In a central position in a charming location ... in front of the Canal Grande. Luxurious rooms provided with all comfort (TV, minibar, safe, climate, laundry room), bathroom comfortable, spacious.
The breakfast is varied and good, served directly in front of the Canal Grande where you can enjoy a splendid view. The Grand Canal Restaurant served excellent breakfasts and buffet dinners, the Venetian tradition, in lovely period rooms frescoed.

Yes, it is pricey, but we booked our standard double 8 months before the trip and so paid only half of what the 2 nights would have cost had we made the reservation only one month in advance. (770€ vs 1490€). I chose this because it was waterfront, right on the Grand Canal and had its own private dock, plus was steps away (yet a world apart) from the public canal transport stops. The room was plain but comfortable, clean, and functional, and the bathroom was modern and lovely. Service from hotel staff was efficient and friendly, from concierge to bell desk, front desk, and throughout the restaurant and bar.

And yes, the restaurant is pricey, but my friend and I had dinner around sunset sitting canal-side, and for all the food and wine plus the spectacular views, the price seemed justifiable. Venice is an expensive city, but at least once, go top-tier and enjoy the magic without considering the cost.
