This summer we stayed at this hotel for our second trip to Venice. Both stays were comfortable and easy. The rooms are small, but that is the norm! The location is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet included is adequate. The beds are not the most comfortable but not terrible! Remember, we chose to stay here a second time!

We stayed for. 4 nights starting 20 September 2012. Hotel very good managed to get room in the new part very comfortable and quiet overlooked the side street. Breakfast was the usual continental buffet and was adequate the view for the table was superb outside over looking the grand canal. We were lucky with the weather dry and sunny until last day when waiting for water taxi the heavens opened so much that water poured through the ceiling above reception causing the area to flood. Overall an excellent experience would recommend.

This hotel is in a brilliant location for the Canal (taxi can drop you off on the hotel's own stop and the Vaporetto #1 stop is just outside as well) and St Mark's Square (a minute or two walk depending on the crowds coming the other way!).

The rooms were very clean and the air conditioning worked brilliantly. There are a few minor maintenance issues but we highlighted these to to the concierge and he got sorted what he could before we went back to the room that afternoon.

Unless you are lucky, or have specifically booked, don't expect a room overlooking the canal though. This has a large annex at the rear of the hotel which goes back some way. We were slightly unfortunate to have a room alongside the main thoroughfare that goes past the hotel. This has Harry's Bar at the end of it so was quite noisy most nights and needed ear plugs when they had music on. The air conditioning can drown this out a bit though.

The bathroom was brilliant - after a day of walking around a very busy Venice, getting into the deep bath was a lovely way to relax.

Just as a specific note while we were there, we were surprised that after heavy rain, the reception had to have lots of buckets and mats around to soak up the water from, what looked like, a problem with the renovations they've had done and the glass roof over the reception area seemed to be draining right down over the concierge and reception counter. They had to dry our key off before giving it back!! They managed to sort it out quickly and it didn't impact the rooms at all.

Room Tip: Ask for one not alongside the alleyway if possible.

Stayed in Monaco Grand Canal for one night, late August.
Before saying anything let me just say that you can not find a decent 5* or 4* hotel in Venice.

Having established that... Monaco is a really nice hotel. The rooms are clean and well air-conditioned (really important) and the restaurant where the breakfast is served has an amazing view. The bed is really comfortable and the bathroom large and clean. However the Hotel is overpriced as everything in Venice is and the check in times are not kept.

On another note, location is simply amazing... San Marco is 1 minute on foot and sea taxis can drop you off at the Hotel's entrance just at the beginning of the Canal Grande!

Would come back at the same hotel, because simply you can't do better than that in Venice.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for!

I have lost count as to how many times my wife and I, family and friends have past an hour or two here in this lovely hotel, it terrace and it's lounge bar, the greeting you receive is that of sincere and genuine welcome, service that exceeds expectation and food that leaves you wanting for more. The manager, Dominico is the perfect host, he is professional and attentive, caring and really happy to be of service, indeed this is the face of the Monaco, restaurant, and if you are there when he is, you will be served like you have never been served before, even when he is not there, those he leaves behind to take charge know just what it takes to make you happy, the seafood is wonderful, the meat delicious, the deserts to die for and the wine... mmmmm....fabulous. The terrace though is the place to be, take a chair at a table along the water edge and marvel as the gondoliers and taxi drivers work their boats as if a grand ballet, the scene is our magic, the performers perform right in front of your eyes a waltz on the lagoon with boats that know what is expected, at times it looks like they could actually thread their boat through the eye of a needle, it's magic to watch them carry people out into the lagoon and back, the water taxis arrive, elegant and stylish, gently delivering their passengers to the landing area on the doorstep of this wonderful hotel, and it's terrace, the sight is pure heaven, the landscape is ever changing and the performers ever so imaginative, there is a feeling of sitting in the front row of a grand opera, and the sights and sounds are being played for you.....enjoy

Room Tip: Just ask for the best, these people are there to please you and they will, but to be fair, all the r...

We stayed here for three nights before going on a Mediterranean cruise. As they say location is everything - ideal for boat trips or just walking to the Square. We were not totally enamored with the breakfast, self service with limited cooked items, more corn flakes and juices. If we had to go back to Venice we would stay here. Plenty of places to eat elsewhere - if you like pizzas and spaghetti.

Room Tip: Get a junior suite, facing the canal.

We got off the boat at San Marcos Square, and with our packs on at the end of a long day, we didn't have to look far for a lovely place to stay the night. I would recommend having lodging reserved when visiting Venice. We didn't and were lucky there was availability in the heavy tourist season. The staff was very accomodating and offered us a discounted rate, as we had to book two rooms (we were traveling with our children, and there wasn't a room large enough for the 4 of us). All the sights of San Marcos Square are steps from the hotel, as well as the canal, gondolas, and shopping. We didn't try the hotel restaurant, but it looked delicious and was full of customers.

We had been in budget accomodations during our trek across Europe, and it was nice to splurge on an extravagant hotel for one night. If you have the money to spend, I highly recommend this place.
