“Beautifully decorated B&B with wonderful hosts”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights during August 2011 for our honeymoon. We did not manage to communicate our arrival time to Sabrina and Massimo hence it took as quite awhile to locate the B&B as it was at a quiet alley. When we arrived we were greeted with warm smiles from Sabrina and Massimo. The room which we had was huge and comfortable and there was air con in the room to beat the summer heat. The bathroom was also very big amongst all the B&B which I have stayed in and it even had a bathtub which was good for a soak at the end of a day of touring Venice.

They were also very nice to show us on the map where all the good eating places were in Venice. Their recommendations were spot on although when we were there most of the restaurants were closed for summer holidays.

Breakfast was prepared by Massimo each day which consisted of pastries, cereal and yogurt. Which you could help yourself to till you're full.

The B&B was about 5 minutes walk away from the vaparetto stop without luggage. We choose to explore the main sights on foot so as to see more of beautiful Venice. Most of the sights were within walking distance although it was easy to get lost due to the many alleys.

We loved Venice and will definitely stay in la Chicca again when we return.

We stayed 4 nights at La Chicca and loved it. Getting there with a fair amount of luggage is a bit of a challenge (particularly in 39 deg August heat!) and we had our doubts when walking down the alley where it's located. But when you step inside, you're in a beautifully renovated property with elegantly decorated rooms and spacious bathrooms (a rarity in Europe!). Sabrina and Massimo are gracious hosts and always willing to help and advise (including finding the nearest laundromat!). Breakfast is simple but more than adequate and Massimo makes a mean capuccino! Location is great because you're close to the Accademia vaporetto stop and not far from St Mark's Square and the main shopping area. Walk a couple of minutes away from the Grand Canal and you will be at the southern waterfront looking towards Guidecca and Lido. Just great.

We chose to stay at La Chicca after doing some research for our trip to Venice. We were not disappointed in the facilities or comfort of La Chicca, our hosts Sabrina & Massimo were very friendly and helpful throughout. The B&B is situated in the Dosoduro district down a quiet and cool passageway only a couple of minutes from Academia Bridge and Vaperetta stop. Our room and en suite were spotlessly clean and luxurious. A very comfortable bed and sofa with a large wardrobe which contained a free electronic safe and fridge. The decor was very nice with fabric walls and Murano lamp shades. Breakfast was a delight with cereals toast and pastries (freshly bought) fruit juices and choice of tea and excellent coffee made by a very proud Massimo. It was hard to find fault with our stay during our six days and was made better by listening to the tips and guidance given by our hosts at breakfast each morning. If you want to stay in a high class, quiet (silent at night) B&B with personal service that comes with a smile and not pay the earth, look no further than this three bedroom jewel situated within striking distance of all major sights on foot or by vaperetta.

I tend to be a total skeptic when I see good reviews on tripadvisor, but La Chicca's rave reviews were completely accurate. Our room was clean, bright and filled with Venetian gradeur. We loved the location because we were were a few minutes walk from all the major attractions, but we still felt like we were part of a neighborhood. Sabrina and Massimo are kind and attentive and made several excellent recommendations for places to eat throughout Venice. La Chicca is wonderful-- we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Sabrina and Massismo are perfect hosts in a warm, quiet setting in Venice's Durosoduro neighborhood. La Chicca is located on a quiet side street 5 minutes from the Accademia vaporetto stop with its entrance underneath lines of colorful clothes hanging out to dry on wash day. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom and great water pressure! Sabrina and Massimo are eager to share their vast knowledge and love of Venice. Their recommendations for eating places were exactly how they described them and proved to be great neighborhood places where the locals, not the tourists, were eating. Massimo's expresso in the morning was superb and prepared to order with care. 10 minute walk to San Marco across the Accademia bridge. Sabrina volunteered to keep our extra luggage for a few days and gave us some great tips on shopping. We could not have asked for better hosts.

I chose La Chicca after reading Tripadvisor reviews, and it proved a good choice! A very well-run place, kind owners Sabrina and Massimo are there every morning at breakfast and will happily answer all their guests' questions. I arrived rather late at night and they met me at the vaporetto stop to walk me to the building. The room was spacious (it even had a sofa - luxury!), the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was a good size. The building is located in a quiet alley and it's peaceful - good for light sleepers. The room has a safe, fridge/minibar, TV, hairdryer, and very importantly for Venice in summer, good air-conditioning. The location is great - a short walk from the Accademia and Zattere vaporetto stops, and not far from the Peggy Guggenheim museum. Easy walking distance to Piazza San Marco too (15 minutes or so). Highly recommended!

We booked this B&B through recommendations read on Trip Advisor and were truly impressed. When we inquired about availability, Sabrina was quick to reply and made our reservation with no deposit! She asked us to let her know when we reached Venice so she could meet us at the vaporetto stop (the B&B is a 5 minute walk from there) which she did with her husband Massimo. How many other people would do that? – It was very personal, welcoming and lovely Massimo carried my bag for me. Our room was big and beautiful – the décor reflects the grandeur of Venice and you really do feel like you are in the suite of a luxury hotel. Where the bedroom is traditional and elegant, the bathroom is modern. Breakfast is simple with lovely fresh pastries. If looking at a map of Venice, we first thought that Dorsoduro maybe a little far out from the main attractions, but we could not have been more wrong. Firstly, it is one the nicest areas in Venice with lovely affordable boutique shops which makes a nice change from the very over crowded ‘typical’ souvenir shops you find elsewhere. Secondly, the vaporetto stop is Accademia – both lines stop here and you are right next to 1 of the 3 bridges taking you across the Grand Canal which is a real bonus. Thirdly, the location is very much in the middle – St Marks square is 10 minutes to the right and Rialto is 10 minutes to the left – you really do have the best of both worlds. You really could not ask for more than this B&B – fantastic value for money for Venice, friendly and hospitable owners and great location. We loved La Chicca and would not hesitate to stay there again. Thank you Sabrina and Massimo!
