Reviewed March 5, 2013

The dome of this church is recognized everywhere as part of Venice. The churches history takes you back to times when master builders made magic.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

This beautiful church was built as a thanks offering by survivors of the plague. When I visited it there happened to be a choir of young people singing angelically inside.
Don't miss the sacristry (admission 3 euros) which contains priceless works of art, including 12 pictures by Titian, some of them painted on the ceiling.

Again this is a photographers delight. This church is huge and evokes all the grandness of Venice's golden years.

“Can't miss it”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

This imposing building is visible from a number of areas on either side of the Grand Canal, standing, as it does, so high above the surrounding buildings.
Reached by an interesting walk from Accademia or from 'Zattare' which looks across to Giudecca, the building itself is hidden by narrow walkways, suddenly appearing right in front of you.
The inside is interesting and well worth a visit, but once you have been inside the view across the Grand Canal is really special. There is all the hustle and bustle of a variety of waterborne traffic (from taxis and buses to gondolas and refuse-collection boats among others) passing close by with a wider vista across to San Marco, while behind you the church rises on an imposing pedestal of steps.

I liked visiting this church just because of its size. It is huge. Be sure to go inside. It is very beautiful.
