Museums can be overwhelming, hot affairs for the sturdy and patient. But this was easy to navigate and even my kids, 8 and 13, got something meaningful out of it.

The collection showcases modern art alongside the "old stuff" (as my younger child said), and it the setting is a relaxing break from the hustle and tourist-clogged bustle of Venice. It's art in just the right portion, with great posted information, variety and relevance. It wasn't on our main To-Do list, but it should definitely be on yours.

This is a must see for lovers of Modern Art. Her life was all about collecting and supporting Modern Art, and the collection showcases portions of her vast collection. They allow photos, so bring your camera. Enjoy the sculpture garden where you'll find her beloved dogs and she are buried!

I visited this museum more than 20 years ago and was particularly taken by its personal feel. I remember furniture and paintings particularly designed for this palazzo and at their original place, leaving the viewer with an excellent impression of its owners passion for modern art. I did not find any of these items at this visit - instead, the palazzo seems to be completely stripped and converted into blank white walls that accommodate a range of modern art, many pieces likely acquired after Peggy's death. The view and location is still striking and worth a visit.

If you like The Tate Modern in London, you'll love this. However, if you are sceptical about modern art, save your €14 pp entrance. This place is not for you. Enough said.
