If you get to the stage where seeing one more painting of the Madonna and child will create a screaming fit I can highly recommend The Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
It houses more famous modern artists than many individual exhibitions manage to stage back home

I wanted to go to The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, as I wanted to take time to look, study and understand the paintings of Pollock, Kadinsky, Dali, Picassos, etc You need time to look at these type of paintings, unfortunately when I went it was packed with people walking past and in front of the painting/s and some people simply stood in front of me and many were snapping away on their camera phones ( as if they were in a Zoo) at every picture hanging on the wall. I don't think they should be taking pictures of this Art.
Anyway, A superb collection and an interesting life story of Peggy Guggenheim and how she lived here amongst the art she collected and the artist that she also supported in the 60's etc. Well worth a visit

It is certainly interesting to visit this house, primarily for the setting which is beautiful and a tribute to the love of Venice that Mrs. Guggenheim felt.
It is not a must see list but if you have time to spare you will enjoy the visit.

A small museum to visit, with interesting modern art and garden. The terrace gives a good view over the Grand Canal. It was a little crowded when I visited and there is not a lot of space so if it looks crowded I'd not recommend going in. Probably only need an hour or so to visit. Probably sufficiently small and interesting collection not to bore kids
