Fatal error got over to the Guggenheim on Tuesday morning to find it shut and had to rearrange plans for Wednesday but well worth the effort. Have to hand in bags to go round and no flash photography but managed to get some good shots as very light and airy. Can go round it in about an hour and a half.

Thank Martin R

A wonderful little gallery in the heart of Venice, I always enjoy a visit and on this recent trip we called in again. The range of modern 20th Century paintings and sculpture cannot be surpassed. The ambience in the beautifully arranged rooms of Peggy's former house and in the sculpture garden is amazing, with views across the Grand Canal. Other reviewers have said it all and I can only agree with them. I also love the black and white photos of Peggy and 'her babies' scattered around the galleries. You get a real sense of Peggy's life as part of the Guggenheim dynasty. Don't miss the gallery shop, next door, they have a good range of design items, like Alessi products, in addition to high quality gifts for discerning tourists.

But don't miss that beautiful plaque in the garden to 'Her Three Babies' - her deceased miniature poodles!

What a gem this place is. Wanted to go for a long time and do glad we did. 12 euros to get in but worth every cent. A collection on art to die for. Set in a beautiful gallery both inside and out. Beautifully arranged art and a surprise round every corner. Most artists I had heard of but some new too. Totally recommend this to anyone with even a slight interest in art. Beautiful setting too.

I like modern art and enjoyed seeing several paintings up close and personal that I hadn't seen before. I wasn't overwhelmed by the collection. It is a nice visit with canal view...nice cafe and gardens...do it when you go to Academia.
