“Great sea food and very relaxed atmosphere”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

I was at a congress at the Hitlon, and we found that restaurant nearby. We liked it so much that we had lunch there twice.

The food was very fresh, well prepared and very Italian, far away from the normal touristic restaurants.

We enjoyed sea food starters - Anitpasto Misto Pesce- a mix of what the sea has to offers. Excellent!

We the daily pasta of fish. The first day, it was a mix of some shelfish and scampi...you could eat your fingers as it was just Yummie. The second day, we had tagliatelle with sea spider crab... again it was amazing!

Final note, on a bill of 171 EUR, the waiter took 21 EUR off as we came twice... great commercial gesture.

Highly recommended!

“Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

This was the closest restaurant to our hotel on the Guidecca, and it caught our eye from the beginning.

We only dined there one night, but I would definitely go back again. It had a really nice atmosphere, very family friendly. There were locals drinking in the bar area at the front, and a combination of locals and tourists eating in the restaurant to the rear. The waiters were very friendly and the food was really excellent.

The food is very hearty, filling and fresh. We shared a lovely tomato and mozzarella salad to start. My partner had meatballs 'grandma-style', which was meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce with polenta, and I had a bacon and tomato sauce with homemade pasta.

We would definitely go back again.

“Dining on Giudecca”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

The last time that we met our friend from Giudecca it was in Venice so when we decided to meet recently it seemed only fair to return. We arranged to meet at a bar on Giudecca but it was closed. From the fact that there was a cement mixer in the middle of the floor we deduced that it wasn't going to open in the next five minutes so we found an alternative. The first bar being closed did us a great favour as without it we would not have settled on Osteria ae Botti. There was a spacious bar and we enjoyed cioccolata calda so thick it made the spoon look pliable. To the rear of the bar is the dining area and when our friend suggested having lunch in a couple of days time we settled that we would give the food a try.
Both bar and restaurant were quite busy when we arrived. There was a friendly welcome and we were shown to a nice alcove table with seats on three sides. We looked at the menu and decided - but then the waiter came along and said that they had a special dish of the day. Of course when he mentioned capelunge that was it. A lovely half litre of wine and then the dish came for us to share. It was a work of art. There were two huge scallops at either end of a salver and scattered around baby scallops and piled high in the centre the cape lunge. We both ate slowly savouring every mouthful. It was perfection. The cap lunge were so sweet and my friend informed me that they are at their best at this time of year due to the fact that they are lactating. I grappled with the biology of this for all of one and half seconds before dismissing it from my mind and proceeded to enjoy their delicious sweetness.
The baby scallops were incredible, soft and cooked with cheese and breadcrumbs. Once it was eaten and a satisfying amount of shells were piled up on the plates, allthe juices were mopped up with the bread.
We followed up the meal with coffee and in my case grappa. Oh all right then two. We were in the restaurant for about two and half hours and it really was a relaxing lunchtime. When the bill came it was €85. It was a little on the expensive side but on balance worth it.
There was though one downside to this wonderful lunch and that was in the shape of a wall mounted flat screen TV showing football with the volume turned up dispiritingly loud. It was quite a distraction. If it hadn't been for the television this would have been a near perfect place. As my knowledge of football is on a par with my knowledge of the lactation habits of crustaceans, I don’t know if this was a report about a special game and the TV might at otherwise have been turned off, as it did seem to be on mainly for the staff.

“Best experience!!”

Our hotel was close by and we ate here several times during our stay. Absolutely amazing food! The pasta just melts in your mouth! Was a wonderful more "local" place and out of the hustle and bustle.

“you must try...”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Been with my family during Venice s carneval. we went to giudecca to visit the most three famous churches designed by Palladio. Alongside with few turistic restaurant and a couple too posh, we found this small ostaria in the front of vaporetto stop. i have to say the food is really really fresh, staff very friendly, price reasonable in considering the mad costs for an average meal in venice. i was so pleased and the nice lunch made our day better.
