The view was nice, but weather wasn't really on our side... I found the tickets quite pricey for what you got. I got the audio guide, this was very nice and informative.

The views are endless. This is a quick activity, you will spend 10-15 minutes at the top and then take the elevator back down. It is 8 Euro per person, and no discounts for kids (unlike most attractions in Venice/Italy). TIP: for best views and the best photos, go when it opens (usually around 9:00h) or go after 5pm (check times - last week they were open until 6:30). From 11:00am - 4:00pm the sun is high in the sky making views and your photos from up there suboptimal. My daughter and I spent 15 minutes up top at 9:30am and enjoyed it.

At the last moment I decided to take a trip up this elevator to see what everyone was talking about. All the travel books say "a must do" so, why the heck not! I'm in Venice right? And, it was a nice thing to do after having a nice cocktail, listening to some music, at one of the outdoor restaurants (another must)in Saint Marks Square.
It cost 8 Euro to actually take that ride up there but there is no time frame while your up there. No one makes you go down. However, there was a bit of a line when I waited to go up but more of a line to GO DOWN! Prepare yourself. I waiting 20 minutes to get back down but didn't really mind as I just 'looked out' and smiled from ear to ear...you can't help it up there. You see EVERYTHING! All the sights! And, there are little audio tours up there for purchase (if you forgot to get one at the desk. Well worth it so you know what your looking at). Also, it was around 95 degrees, with a 80% humidity, so being up there was another "pro"...it was breezy and around 25 degrees cooler!! Take up a small sandwitch and a beverage of choice! On a hot day it's the best relief you can get (without actually going back to your hotel room)! Do it!

At the time of our stay the cost per person was 8 euros. The view from the top was breathtaking and a good opportunity to take some great photos. If you time your visit well the queues aren't too bad.

If you have the time, the short elevator ride - yes there is an elevator - to the top of the tower is worth the wait in line. The views are spectacular. Whereas on the ground you are continually traversing canals, from the view on the top of the tower, in many parts of the city you cannot even see the canals.
