Belmond Hotel Cipriani

My partner and I arrived in Venice by train following 5 nights in Rome. We took a water taxi to the hotel. Not having been in Venice for over 20 years, we were excited to be returning to the Cipriani - our 4th time there. It did not disappoint. As other posters have mentioned on this site, the first face you see upon arrival is that of Roberto, the hotel's "doorman", who has been at the hotel for 19 years. He is so friendly and so willing to assist you in any way he can.

Reception was a snap. Kudos to Mario Z., who checked us into our beautiful lagoon view room with private balcony. Everything about the room was spectacular: the bathroom with skylight, the living area, ample closets, separate sleeping area, and that balcony.

Service in and around the hotel was just right, gracious without being overbearing. The grounds are as beautiful as ever. The breakfasts on the terrace (which are included) were spectacular, including the chef whose only role seemed to be to carve prosciutto.

Even though the room rates are staggeringly high, I would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly if you want to get away from the crowds in Venice. After a 5 minute "crossing" in the hotel's private motor launch, you feel as if you've been transported to your own private oasis.

This is a superb hotel. It may be expensive but they do it with style. We could not find fault and Roberto, the doorman, seemed able to fix just about anything.. This is somewhere to stay at least once in your life.

The room was beautifully done and very nicely appointed. The grounds and setting are lovely. The staff responded to requests immediately (though there was not much that hadn't been considered before we thought to ask) and the service at the bar/restaurants/pool was outstanding - prompt without hovering. The food was delicious and very well prepared.

Most importantly though were the other things that make a great stay an absolutely outstanding and memorable stay - the "teddy bear" cakes for the kids and fresh fruit for us when we checked into the rooms, the suggestion for non-alcoholic belinis for the kids every breakfast when they poured real ones or champagne for us, suggestions from the concierge on how to make the most of the trip which resulted in a FABULOUS day in a boat organized by the hotel complete with being met for private tours of Murano and Burano, the staff introducing themselves to the kids our first day and then taking the time to talk to them whenever they ran into them, Roberto who was so attentive and gave the girls "driving licenses" every morning then personally instructed the launch operator to be sure to let them drive the boat, the pool concierge who set up chairs for us when none were available together without being asked to do so and who gave us evian spray bottles to help us beat the heat wave even when we were simply walking by the pool to get somewhere else, the free kids club (and lovely Linda) which was so much fun the kids preferred it to hanging with us and we got to relax.

I travel the world redularly for business and liesure and have stayed in some of the highest rated hotels in the world. This one definately rates up there with the best I have had the pleasure of visiting. Can not recommend it strongly enough.

This is a tough hotel to rate. I rarely give as poor a review as this one but at a price of 1,235 Euro at the low-end room rate, this is a "Poor" hotel and I don't mean poor in terms of lack of money. The rooms are all different but our suite was dated and reminded me of Ceasars palace in Las Vegas twenty years ago. The food was great. Most staff were very very nice but a few, as is always the case, snooty. The "High Speed" internet was non -existent in the rooms for all intents and purposes. The spa taff were great but the spa is underwhelming. Average gym equipment. In summary, this isn't a bad place to stay but not worth the money by any justification especially if you rate it primarily on the rooms.

This is probably the most beautiful hotel ever, for location, decor, style, ambiance, friendliness and professionalism. We could only manage a stay of 2 nights having just come off a cruise, but having asked if possible for one of their recently refurbished rooms when we booked I was delighted to find we had just that and what a room! If booking try requesting Room 119. The bathroom/dressing room was enormous and the main bedroom was about as big as my entire bungalow. Everyone on the staff that we spoke to was kind and helpful and how I envy Roberto his "office" - Gardens were amazing as was the swimming pool and don't get me started on the breakfasts........I only hope that one day I will be lucky enough to go back again - I can hardly wait. Thanks to all the staff there who made this short stay so memorable.

Stayed at the Cipriani as part of a trip on the Orient Express with friends celebrating BIG Birthday/Retirement. Hotel across the Lagoon from St Marks Square. Private launch to transport you back and forth day and night. Lovely gardens, spacious elegant rooms. Excellent restaurant,if a little pricey! The bonus was a heated huge swimming pool, quite something in Venice. The only downside was it did not open until 9 am,so a swim before breakfast was not possible. Very friendly staff who were helpful arranging trips etc.

It begins with a warm greeting from Roberto, who helped arrange a fabulous trip for us to Burano, to Gastone, a concierge who can make reservations at great resturants and get you museum tickets. As far as I'm concerned the word "can't" is not in their vocabulary. The young ladies who serve breakfast on the beautiful outdoor patio are outstanding. Have dinner at Cip's... the food was exceptional. It was a little chilly and the staff magically produced a shawl for my wife. Even the gardeners give you a buon giorno and are willing to answer any questions you may have about the flowers in the Casanova garden. The Cipriani is truly a great hotel.
