We have recently returned from a VSOE and stay at the Cipriani, a truly wonderful hotel; the attention to detail, the service, décor, the gardens, the peace and quiet after St Marks Square were second to none. The only note of caution are the prices - but you get what you pay for.

Second time at Cipriani this time for long weekend with the kids (13 & 10)

whilst some of the rooms are a little basic the overall experience is fantastic

wonderful dinners at Cips over looking the lagoon, impeccable service and beautiful late afternoons by the excellent pool

Cipriani is such a great counter to the hustle and bustle in the main part of Venice that its lovely after a day of sights, arts and food to arrive at the Cipriani dock nr St Marks to disappear on the boat to your own tranquility and air at this classy place

We stayed here having arrived on the Orient Express for the trip of a lifetime, and felt than in spite of the huge price tag it was well worth it. Venice itself is manic and exhausting, walking, getting lost and therefore worn out is the thing to do here, so having a place to retreat to that was peaceful and serene felt like complete luxury. One evening we took their Bacari tour by boat that visited non touristy bars with a guide, Stefano, who was great company and an interesting guide - a really relaxing way to see bits of the city we hadn't managed to cover by foot. The price of the tour is steep, but if time is short and you want to feel like you've really discovered the city in a relaxing way we would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a lagoon view, which we did enjoy, but we spent time either in Venice itself or in...

After a long flight we were welcomed to this wonderful hotel with a room upgrade and a nice bottle of champagne. What a great welcome! Eveyone was so kind and attentive to our every need. The room was beautiful and the sheets were fabulous. The pool bar was great and the martini was yummy! We will reccomend this hotel to all our friends.

The Hotel Cipriani is the grand hotel of Venice I had booked a lagoon view suite on the recommendation of others based on reputation not recent experience. Some of the reviews were a little mixed (especially the May issue of Conde Naste which referred the hotel being knocked into a crocked hat - whatever that means it can't be good). Was it a hotel in decline still expensive but now a little worn and trading on reputation?
Well fear not this hotel retains all of its charm and our stay was perfect.

Doubtless our stay was helped by an upgrade to one of the special suites - straight out of a story book - views and balconies to the lagoon, garden and over the pool towards St Marks. The staff especially Alessandra - were peerless in their professionalism and attention to detail. The concierge staff couldn't have been more helpful. The formal restaurant, Fortuny, was exactly what you would expect. Wonderful food and service and an elegant ambiance in the evenings - and relaxed decadence during the day.
The hotel is located on Giudecca - an oasis of calm compared with the tourist chaos of the main part of Venice but only 5 minutes in the hotel shuttle away. It is hard to imagine a hotel that could tempt you to stay away from exploring Venice ( my favourite city) but the Cipriani does that. Quintessentially Venetian and at the standard to be expected of an Orient Express hotel in every respect.
It doesn't have the modernist simplicity of one of Starke designed hotels or their numerous copies - it is unashamed opulent in its furnishings and design. If it is understated efficiency you are after then try Zurich. If you want to immerse yourself in the hyperbolic opulence of Venice as it used to be - well it still is at the Hotel Cipriani. As for the Conde Naste Hot List - it needs to work harder - got this one completely wrong.

We are actually just sitting in the pool bar and enjoying the last hour in this wonderful hotel before we head home. It's hard to know where to start.......to say that all the staff are friendly would be the understatement of the year, but it's the numerous small touches that make your stay here memorable: we're traveling with our four year old son for whom they had a fitting bathrobe and slippers, we got a welcome bottle of champagne and he got a welcome bottle of non-alcoholic champagne, when ordering room service for his dinner he got a small cake in the shape of a teddy bear, on my husband's birthday a birthday cake was waiting for him on our room on returning, by the second day the waiters at breakfast and at the pool bar knew which coffee we drink and what cocktails we like. Both Cip's restaurant and Fortuny restaurant had excellent service and excellent food. Last, but not least a huge thanks to Amanda at the Smiles Club (the children's club at the Cipriani), who made our son feel so welcome, although he is quite shy, that he went there every day for 1 hour and gave us time to relax as well. Is it expensive? Yes, but it is definitely worth every penny. Even if I tried I couldn't say anything bad about our stay here.

This was our second stay at the Cipriani. This is truly an elegant hotel. I am not sure what some of the reviews are referring to when they say the hotel requires updating. My family and I had three rooms and they were beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. The staff was wonderful, attentive and eager to please. The setting and the gardens are beautiful and access to St. Mark's Sq. is very convenient by hotel watertaxi. As stated in other reviews, the hotel is expensive but for me and my family the experience was worth it.
