Owner description: The city's most important and prestigious art gallery features an impressive collection of Venetian paintings and works by such artists as Bellini, Titian and Mantegna.

Of museums devoted to painting (as opposed to history), the Accademia is without question the one you cannot miss. It has paintings from the Renaissance by Venice's greatest painters, including a large number of great works by the Bellini brothers, and large numbers of works by Titian and Tintoretto. In addition, there are beautiful gold altarpieces in the first room. A must!

Gallerie dell'Academia!!!!
If you have time or will for one only museum visit while in Venice, this must be the Galleria. Very easy access by most of the boat buses going up and down Canale Grande. Don't be intimidated by the huge crowds you'll see wondering through Venice streets, ponds and canals. Regrettably, only a few are true art lovers, so the Gallerie is usually empty. I've been there more than once and I have to mention that entrance personnel isn't that helpful. Frankly, Not helpful at all!!!!!!! But who cares!!! Nothing could possibly ruin my day, after being there and viewing the masterpieces of artists like Giorgione, Tizziano, Bellini, Da Vinci, Canaletto and others. It worths the 15€ admission fee and definitely worths the 6€ the cost of the head phones, (they didn't even bother to mention them, although I offered to buy whatever was available, in order to learn more about the paintings and enjoy my visit the most). Besides the paintings, the building itself is a must see. I'll definitely go back again and again, but better equipped next time!!

Must see, best art museum in Venice.. Get the audioguide for viewing the wonderful masterpieces. We almost missed part of the museum as there are rooms located behind a large piece that hides the stairs up to more rooms. We were there first thing in the morning and were the only ones for a good hour before more people were arriving.

Decent museum, which became a must do, because of the Da Vinci exhibit. You get too see all the original notes of Da Vinci and get a feel for diverse ideas of this genius. I am not sure how long this exhibit stays here, but it is a must see.

We loved this art museum full of works by Titian, Carpaccio, Bellini, and Tintoretto, to name a few. There's a large collection of ceremonial paintings and religious art also. Less overwhelming than some of the larger museums in Italy, it still houses some exquisite art. Different rooms are dedicated to certain periods, which I found helpful. This shouldn't be missed! This was once La Carita, a church, convent, and cloisters. Very uncrowded in early May; easy to get to from the Vaporetto. Well worth the admission price. Nice staff. No photos allowed. Must check your umbrella if it's full size.
