THE bridge in Venice. It’s hard to miss as the indicated route to St. Mark’s Square will lead you to the bridge. It’s a nice place to stop and take some pictures of the Venice canals. It’s also a place to pick up some little knick knacks for the folks back home. As this is a prime tourist attraction, be prepared to spend a bit more on your gifts than in other places in Venice that are away from the main attractions. Some of the T-shirt stalls nearby will offer some nice shirts for not to many Euros so these are definitely worth a visit. Be prepared to see lots of men trying to sell fake designer handbags and stuff. The bridge is always filled with people and is a fun place to just watch other tourists all take the same pictures :-)

Though the bridge itself can be almost unbearably crowded during the day, walking across it is a rite of passage for the traveller in Venice. More breathtaking however, is viewing the bridge from below on the Riva del Vin or Riva Ferro (the walkways on either side of the Grand Canal). From there, the real majesty of the bridge is far more apparent. The Rialto is also lovely when viewed from a vaporetto.

This is one of the sites and sights to take time out and visit when in Venice. Great place to get some photos. Market close by.

Truly a landmark of Venice. The ancient bridge offers wonderful views of the Grand Canal. It's crowded for sure, but so are all the great landmarks of great cities. Shopping is nothing that you can't find on the inviting, narrow lanes throughout this canal laced city. You may want to consider bringing a lock along to place on the bridge - signifying your love for your spouse.

While the bridge is nice to look at the stores on it are nothing but higher priced tourist kiche souvenirs that you can get cheaper elsewhere. Also watch for gypsies on the bridge pretending to be disabled but can steal and run faster then anyone you know.
