Love of paintings on the ceiling. Several floors to tour along the courtyard. Suggest you get a group guide. the wood in the various rooms and it is like a museum in each room

Probably the highlight of my trip to Venice. Beautiful palace, worth every penny, amazing rooms, walk through the Bridge of Sighs, lots to see. I did a pre booked ticket, online and I would recommend that, as otherwise you are in a huge queue with all of the day-trippers.

I have been studying about Venice for over 20 years. To finally be in the Doge's Palace was one of the most exciting events of my life. Get with a tour guide or rent the audio guide for a full treatment of what you are going to walk through. I could spend a month on my back studying the ceiling in the pictured room. Venice had strict rules to preserve the money making structure of the city state. I was disappointed to learn that you could not visit a certain section because it was rented as office space! Get there early to avoid the crowds especially if a cruise ship is in port.

We spent about 1hr30 and it was a magnificent place it would only have been better if there were more information there was some in the main rooms but felt more could have been told on the history of Venice itself

Could not get on the “Secret Itinerary” tour so tried this one and we had a great hour and a half tour with a wonderfully informative tour guide. Only 10 on the tour and we visited loggia areas not open to general admissions, Doge’s private balconies, “the money room”, ante chambers and senate areas. We were then free to wander the main tour as often as we liked. Made the €28 entry fee really good value. So worth booking in advance. Excellent tour.
