Owner description: Venice's main water thoroughfare, lined with great Renaissance palaces, is a colorful and busy spectacle of gondolas and vaporetti.

Central feature to Venice weaving its way through the City surrounded by some magnificent historic architecture. With gondolas, water taxis, vaporettas and business barges it's busy but also easy to get from A to B. Enjoy the ride, enjoy the city.

For travelers visiting Venice be sure to take advantage of the public transportation that uses the Grand Canal. Most of the key tourist sites in Venice can be found off of the Grand Canal. The Vaparetto is an "easy on, easy off" means of traversing the Grand Canal. Rialto Bridge, St. Marks Sq., the train station etc. are all accessible via the Grand Canal

As the title says, the Grand Canal is Venice’s main artery. We were fortunate that our hotel was near San Marco which meant we had to sail on the Grand Canal to reach our hotel , it was a very scenic journey sailing along it. We also passed under the Rialto & Accademia Bridges on route to our hotel which was all very nice as well.

Water taxi is the way to go. Hop on and off as you like or stay on and go the whole way around. It is just lovely!
