We found this place on trip advisor before travelling to Venice for a short break and you really have to visit. Believe everything about the atmosphere, the rolls and the wine. The atmosphere is great, yes the guy behind the bar drinks as much as her serves but is really welcoming. Everyone gathers around outside (once you have 4 people inside you can't move) either on the steps of the church, on the steps of the canal or just standing around, we visited each day on our way back to the bus station as it really is an experience not to be missed.

I stopped to pick up lunch for the train back to Rome. It was 10AM the locals were drinking wine and toasting each other. So were the guys behind the counter. I pointed out 4 small sandwiches and asked for a glass of the .60 euro wine. The locals cheered me clinked glasses with me as I downed the red. Not good but not too bad for the cheapest glass of wine I ever had. The sandwiches were excellent. The total bill was about 4 Euro. You could not find a better deal. It is only 5 minutes from the train station.

£3.20 for three mini rolls and a small glass of red!

Super friendly and exceplent service. Recommended for breakfast, lots of locals there. Small with no sitting apace though.

About 10 minutes walk from the train station - cross just one bridge.

Delicious cicchetti! Thanks to TripAdvisor, and my husband's awesome map reading skills, we visited Bacareto Da Lele and experienced their delicious spin on cicchetti. Their meats are super fresh and served plentifully and their rolls are clearly served direct from the oven - very crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. We sampled three varieties of cicchetti - the speck (type of prosciutto), another kind of prosciutto which is served with a roasted pepper in the sandwich, and their salami/sausage, which is served with a slice of cheese. We also got one glass of red wine, which at only .60euro is quite a deal - a cicchetti sized serving of wine to be sure, but still, a good price. The sandwiches are also a tremendous bargain! The line wasn't too long when we got there, but after we got our plate and settled ourselves on a step next to the canal, a huge group of what looked like students arrived, so we were grateful we had dodged that incursion!

We really enjoyed the food, the authentic ambiance, the supercharged vibe, but definitely beware of the pigeons, they are everywhere - very bold, eager to eat the crumbs of your crusty bread as they fall, their wings touching your legs, kind of gross, frankly - so just beware of that, though for many, that is clearly part of the charm. The other point is that there are a zillion other places to get cicchetti in Venice, and one must ponder the engine that all of our reviews drive, one begetting the next - I can't say that there aren't other cicchetti spots that are at least as good if not better than this place - and oh how I wish I had the luxury of being able to try each and every one of them in this beautiful city!

If you have the bottle to elbow your way through the very lively, mostly Italian speaking crowd, you will not be disappointed. 5 mouthwatering 100% authentic Italian rolls crammed full of delicious fillings, with little glasses of wine, came to just 5 euros & we delighted in eating our feast on the church steps in the Italian sunshine- divine!! Speaking Italian is a definite benefit as well as knowing your spek, mortadellas and salamis.....! Enjoy!
