Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Learn to row like a Venetian-standing, facing forward, just like the gondoliers-in a beautiful, traditional Venetian all-wood gondolina batella coda di gambero. See Venice from a unique, authentic perspective in this unique outing: you can't row Venice if you haven't rowed Venice.

My husband and I did this in February, It was a fantastic 1.5hrs something you won't get to do anywhere else. Jane was great, informative and fun. We started off on the quite canals and even got to row on the Grand Canal, amazing experience. If you only do one activity in Venice it must be this!!

Did this with 5 other friends - was fantastic fun - a little chilly, but such a good laugh. Nancy and Jane our instructors were fantastic - they even treated us to venetian sing a long! Absolutely recommend this for everyone - even if it just for the picture opportunities. Everybody rides a gondola, but not so many row a gondola! Thank you for Nancy and Jane for a wonderful highlight to our weekend in Venice - such a beautiful weekend all round.

This was an incredible experience, not to be missed. Besides learning to handle a boat, you get to see a part of Venice that few tourists see. You are on the far side of the island; it is quiet and uncrowded. The rowing is so peaceful. You can appreciate the cultural aspects of the canals and waters. We went in January and loved it. How else would you get into the middle of the lagoon?

A gondola ride seems pretty lame after learning to row Venetian-style yourself. Anna was an enthusiastic and informative teacher, who taught me in French as she didn't have much English. Warming up on the quiet back canals she taught the basics, before we headed onto the Grand Canal for some real action. A moving maze of vaporetti, Venice's elegantly stretched speedboats and wisecracking gondoliers made it a baptism of fire as we rowed under the Rialto Bridge and back. A major highlight of a trip filled with highlights and I have never looked at a Canaletto or Guardi the same since.

Like everyone else said before me, this was the highlight of my Venice trip. 80 euro for a 1.5 hour ride and lesson in a Gondola! It is well worth it. You are on a Venetian rowboat and you first row out to the lagoon where you get to try steering. Then, you can either choose to navigate through some canals on your own or, depending on time, she will take you down the Grand Canal. Considering other Gondoliers charge 80 euro for 45 minutes and you don't even get to try it, this is a huge bargain. My instructor was really fun and friendly and taught me a lot about Venice and gondoliers. For example, did you know it cost 250,000 euro to buy a Gondola license?
