“Great location and a super hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

We stayed three nights in a Junior suite with a canal view. I chose the hotel for its location, about half way between Rialto Bridge and St Marks. The location is really convenient to explore Venice and close to many of the sights you will want to explore. It is on small streets/canals so a little difficult to find. The room was huge and the bathroom was spacious and everything worked well. The beds were comfortable with nice pillows. The staff was helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was good with plenty of variety and the food was good quality. The hotel is located on a canal so has a street entrance and a water entrance. The 2nd floor sitting area is very comfortable and has a balcony overlooking the canal. We had a cocktail there a couple of times- the hotel has a bar and they brought the drinks up for us.

We arrived late the first night and walked to the hotel from the Rialto water bus stop. We made a few wrong turns (it is Venice after all) but it was pretty easy to find. One note, the sign is kind of small so it's easy to miss. It think we walked past it once before finding it. Look for the doors lit up, they are distinctive. A water taxi would be the easy, simple and elegant way to arrive. However, we elected to walk in lieu of the 180 euros fee for the taxi. We had one carry-on roller bag each so it was simple. With more luggage the $$ route is the way to go.

The value for cost is fantastic. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend the Aqua Palace.

We stayed at the Aqua Palace for 4 nights during our recent trip to Venice. The biggest plus for us was the convenient (albeit touristy) location - between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, with lots of cafes and restaurants in the area to choose from.

Our room was spacious and nicely furnished but rather dark. And because it faced the street and adjacent to the canal and bridge, it was quite noisy at times.

Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of cereals, breads, cold meats, cheeses and fruit. However, the room service food was of poor quality so a much better option is to grab a pizza from the many outlets close by.

We had no complaints about the customer service. The reception staff were polite but not particularly warm. The exception was the female staff member in the breakfast room who was very friendly and attentive.

All in all, the hotel met our expectations for a short stay. At the same time, I wouldn't rave about it as others have done.

Room Tip: A room not facing the street or canal may be quieter.

We loved this hotel, and have recommended it to friends. This was our first trip to Venice, and if we get chance to return wouldn't stay anywhere else. Excellent location in a very quiet street, but within a couple of minutes walk of the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. We visited Venice in December, so it was quite cold outside. The room was warm and cosy and spotlessly clean, and it was easy to control the temperature. The buffet breakfast was delicious. We also loved the seat in their lift! The hotel is non-smoking (we checked before we booked) and there is free wi-fi which you are supplied details of on arrival. The reception staff were always welcoming and helpful. The reception area, dining area and other common parts of the hotel were very stylish and they put up some lovely Christmas decorations during our stay, Your can even arrive or depart the hotel directly by water taxi, but the public transport to the airport is only from the Rialto Bridge so not far to wheel your suitcases. Couldn't have wished for a better stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 406, on the top floor, which was nice and cosy with beams. There was a small exter...

Warm welcome, fantastic service, beautiful room, excellent breakfast and ideal location. Hard to think how the Aqua Palace could be better. Special mention for Marco who put up with several changes to our dinner reservations and remained polite, warm and accommodating throughout. Highly recommended!

The room was very nice, with a small balcony, very comfortable, cozy and clean. Very beautiful & chic hotel.
The receptionist was helpful he recommended a restaurant next to the hotel, the food was AMAZING. You can book through the reception a Gondola Ride (a must in Venice)
I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway :)

We just loved the Aqua Palace...close to everything! Friendly and competent staff who were always helpful. We got there by dropping off our rental car at the Venice Airport (arriving in Milan), were immediately taken by a 5 minute cab ride to the waterfront where the 4 of us jumped on a water taxi, which took us right to the door of the hotel, via the canals. It was wonderful. Rooms were roomy, nice enough baths....perhaps lacking comfortable seating...but then, we were on the go and didn't have time to even sit down. On the whole, a very pleasant hotel in a nice neighborhood, short walking to San Marco Square....and most places. Great breakfasts and service there as well. I don't think it makes a hoot worth of difference whether you are by the canal in your room...our room wasn't and it was fine.

Room Tip: I think they're all fine. Some are fussy about a canal room....but, heck, just walk down to th...

We stayed at the Aqua Palace for 3 nights last weekend. We choose this hotel for the great reviews..... The hotel is luxurious and in a great location. We were in room 303 which had a fantastic view of the canal. Its very close to St Marks square and a few mins walk to Rialto bridge, located in the region of Castello, We did however get lost every time trying to find the hotel so make sure you have a street map, it was good fun! It was quite nippy so make sure you take hats/gloves/scarves and wellies or at least be ready to buy a pair! We experienced Acqua Alta whilst we were there which was intersting indeed!! As the hotel is so close to St marks square which is one of the lowest parts of the city- during Acqua alta, the floods can get to almost knee high in the area around the Aqua Palace- so you either need to sit it out in the hotel (it lasts a few hours) or you need to buy/take wellies and experience this phenomenon!

We chose to take the Alilaguna water bus from the airport which costs 27 euros return, you can buy you tickets from the airport when you get there, the boats are located approx. a 5min walk from the airport just follow the signs. The transfers are regular and takes about an hour, we took the orange line and got off at the Rialto stop to get to the hotel. However if you are aged 29 or under you can purchase a 'Rolling card' for 30 euros per person. This is a great deal which includes your return airport transfer and a 3 day pass for the Vapporetto water bus service all around Venice and to the islands. You also get discounts into some of the museums/galleries etc. it doesn't seem to be that well advertised and you have to purchase it from the first window at the tourist information desks at the airport. I recommend it! Huge saving! It you are over 29, the 3 day pass costs 35 euros plus you would have to pay 27 euros for your return transfer on the Alilaguna water bus.

During our visit we took the water bus (using our rolling card vaporretto pass) and visited Murano, Burano, Torcello and on another day we visited the Lido. I loved Burano for its brightly coloured houses and Torcello was just great to get away from all the crowds. Its really easy and again the water buses are very frequent. You're best catching the water bus from the Fondamente Nuove stop which is about a 10 min walk from the hotel to visit the northern lagoon islands and going from St Marks to the southern lagoon islands i.e the Lido. We were really disappointed with the Lido, I was expecting something similar to St Tropez but it was more like Rhyl! Maybe it was because of the time of year....

Venice is very expensive to eat / drink and shop. The hotel breakfast is fantastic so I recommend that you really fill up to keep you going for most of the day, We loved alfredo's which is a 'to go' pasta bar (only a few chairs) which is cheap and delicious and located just a couple of mins from the hotel- if you can find it!! You also must try a 'Spritz' which is the orange drink which all the Venetians drink. Its made of Aperol, Prosecco and soda with lots of ice and a slice of orange. Its also one of the cheapest alcoholic drinks on the menu :-)

Have a great time and book the Aqua Palace, you won't be disappointed. P,S Wifi is good and free in this hotel! The staff were helpful and friendly too!

Room Tip: Room 303, I think it was a superior room. Huge with bathrobes and a great view of the canal
