We stayed in Venice for 2 nights and got to experience the real Venice by staying here at the B&B Palazzo Minelli. It's the beautiful home of Matteo and family with beautiful Venetian furniture and polished concrete.
Matteo was very welcoming and friendly upon arrival with great English. He helped us with local tips of Venice and was available at all times should we have needed any assistance.
The room was very clean and comfortable for the 2 of us and within 5 minutes walking distance to St Marco's square.
From the train station we caught the water bus to the Rialto stop and walked to our accomodation.
The free WiFi is fantastic, very helpful for travellers on the go a lot and the breakfast prepared by Matteo's mother was also a great Venetian touch. The accomodation is very central and would recommend to anyone looking to stay and experience Venice.

This place was a bit of a challege to find.. directions could be better. It is hard to find street names in Venice, some are labeled but others are not! Just ask around and you will find it alright. The service here was excellent! breakfast was good and the coffee was the best I've had.. ever! Our room was clean and comfortable. We were about 15-20 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and St. Marcs was less than 5 minutes away. When we arrived here after an overnight flight, we passed out immediately! I woke up from my nap to Gondoliers singing down the canal! So magical! Loved my stay in Venice!

Location
- walking distance to Rialto waterbus station (Rialto bridge is one of the main attractions in Venice)
- it's kinda in a corner (which part of Venice is not?) but it's just around the corner from La Phoenix Theatre and square... just ask around!

Service & Breakfast
- Wow, what can I say. Breakfast is prepared every morning when we order and it's delivered to our room (yes, we've dining table & chairs in the room). Coffee was made the traditional way in the Italian coffee pot, and the crispy bread and croissants were warmed up to perfect temperature when served. Portions are... really generous.
- Matteo's son was warm and friendly and greeted us, offered us help (asked if we need any) every time he sees us. And he remembered our honeymoon request, and served a lovely champagne for us :)

Price & Size
- This has to be one the few places in Venice that you can get such a big room with nice furniture at this price (~150USDp/n) with gondolas outside your windows. By the way, this room is for 3 persons (queen and single)...

We had a week here in July 2013 and were looked after attentively by Matteo. He was an engaging conversationalist and we learnt a lot about his city and Italy in general.
The Palazzo Minelli was a very characterful building full of old world charm and it was a pleasure to stay in an authentic Venetian building. Perhaps not for those who prefer a modern hotel but for us a great place to stay, we would love to go back one day.
The breakfasts were really nice including lovely coffee and fresh croissants from Matteo's uncle's bakery.
The Palazzo Minelli is centrally located a five minute walk from the St Mark's Square. Matteo said some find it difficult to locate, but by carefully following a map I was able to navigate straight there.

Room Tip: There is a room overlooking the canal, but the gondoliers can be noisy...apparently ! Our room overlooked the courtyard and that was fine.

Really nice place near the Fenice Opera House. The room was large and overlooked two small bisecting canals. Perfect scenery for a stay in Venice. Breakfast was served in our room when we were ready. The staff was great and the communication with Matteo prior to the trip was excellent. The only drawback is that there is no air-conditioning, which was really necessary when we were there. This is not Palazzo Minelli's fault as they do not claim to have air-conditioning. However, had I done my homework a little better, I would have not stayed here during the summer. They did supply fans, but they were inadequate to battle the heat. I would stay here again during any other time of the year, but definitely not the summer. This is the only reason I am giving Palazzo Minelli a 4 rating instead of a 5.

Room Tip: A great place to stay during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Make sure to get a room overlooking the canals.
