Owner description: With tickets from €25 (€15 for children) VENEZIA at Teatro San Gallo, is a celebration of Venice. A light hearted, exuberant and entertaining show that illuminates some of the stories and traditions of the city in a very theatrical and enjoyable way. In this, the last private theatre in Venice, where once there were over 100, the cast of live performers bring to life the fascinating background events of this city's glorious and often scandalous past. Our wish at the theatre is to add to your understanding of this Great City's important story and entertain you along the way.

“Everyone should see!”

A visit to the Teatro San Gallo is something everyone should see. It is a play performed in English that explains the history of Venice. Not only is it very funny but you also learn things you didn't know that make exploring the city even more fun. The costumes on display in the Teatro are very interesting as well. The staff will take the time to explain some of the costumes to you. They have wine, soda or water available. This play is also quite suitable for children. The visual effects are very amazing. A great way to spend an hour of the evening in Venice.

“A Hidden Gem !!!”
Reviewed March 12, 2014 via mobile

We found this production by accident and it was excellent. We went on the free tour in the morning and then returned in the evening for the documentary and play about the history of Venice.it was an really informative evening and a really good way of learning about Venice. It was wonderful and because we had bought the meal package we found an excellent restaurant as well. Thank you for a lovely evening.

“Amazing! A must when in Venice.”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Couldn't praise the show enough from how much I learnt, to the staff helping us buy wellington boots before the performance when Venice flooded!
Such a relaxed and fun atmosphere and a free drink to watch the show with. The story was fasinating, and done in such a way that it was fun to watch. The acting and set was fantastic, with so much to look at. If you go to Venice, this really is a must see!

“Very nice and informative performance! A taste of Venice!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

The place is very nice with a large collection of memorabilia and souvenir. The actors are good and they speak excellent english (they might even be of anglophone origin). The show is well balanced and takes you through various stages of the Venetian history. We laughed some, learned some and overall enjoyed ourselves!

My only hesitation is the ticket price. I'd be glad to spend €25-30 on such a (good) performance but €39 is a bit too much on my opinion. They have some nice diner+ticket combos which look very nice. But we didn't want to eat Hard Rock cafe and the italian restaurants they suggested had terrible ratings...

I suggest you to visit the show. If you are a student or can find use of their food combo, all the best. If not, then it's all up to your budget.

“Enthusiastic performances made a fun and interesting evening”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

This production is done in English by three anglophone actors and one Italian. It is preceded by a documentary film (BBC?) about Venice. The performance is also intercut with film clips. The performance has an original script, mostly light-hearted, recounting the main story line of the history of Venice, interspersed with anecdotes and legends. We found it entertaining and informative. There is a theatre bar for a drink before the performance or at the interval. There is also a bookshop with a good selection of titles on Venice in English and French, as well as Italian. The actors are talented and energetic and we enjoyed the evening.
