Owner description: With tickets from €25 (€15 for children) VENEZIA at Teatro San Gallo, is a celebration of Venice. A light hearted, exuberant and entertaining show that illuminates some of the stories and traditions of the city in a very theatrical and enjoyable way. In this, the last private theatre in Venice, where once there were over 100, the cast of live performers bring to life the fascinating background events of this city's glorious and often scandalous past. Our wish at the theatre is to add to your understanding of this Great City's important story and entertain you along the way.

“Enthusiastic performances made a fun and interesting evening”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

This production is done in English by three anglophone actors and one Italian. It is preceded by a documentary film (BBC?) about Venice. The performance is also intercut with film clips. The performance has an original script, mostly light-hearted, recounting the main story line of the history of Venice, interspersed with anecdotes and legends. We found it entertaining and informative. There is a theatre bar for a drink before the performance or at the interval. There is also a bookshop with a good selection of titles on Venice in English and French, as well as Italian. The actors are talented and energetic and we enjoyed the evening.

“Fun and Informative”
Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

This little theatre is transformed for an hour into a charming "History of Venice." The show, prefaced by an optional BBC-esque video documentary, is performed by 4 actors, in English with radio translations, and a great deal of panoramic video.

We enjoyed the show very much, and felt that the audiovisuals were a nice addition and not overdone.

Only critiques are that sometimes the volume of the background music overpowered the actors. Also, the first-tier dinner offered as an add-on to the show was unremarkable.

In conclusion, the show is an artistic evening full of history well told.

“Great performance!”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Loved this production! It is very informative and teaches you a lot about Venetian history and legends. The actors were really fabolous and funny too! Well done! Pity the theatre itself is kinda run down, however they do make this up with a very good 3D projector which sets the scene and atmosphere.

Well worth the price!

“Brilliant Venice story performance :)”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

The show first starts with a BBC documentary on Venice and is followed by a performance on parts of its history. The actors were great, especially the lead actor. A must visit for anyone staying in Venice!!!

“'Great show'”
Reviewed February 6, 2014 via mobile

My father, sister and I were in Venice this week for only 3 days and on our last night we wanted to watch a show about Venice. I came across the poster for this show in St. Marks Square and decided to read about it online. The theatre is off one of the side streets on St. Marks Square so very easy to find (I just asked a shop assistant on the square where the theatre was). We went to watch the show which is just under 1.5 hours. Starts at 7pm. The great thing is this show is on every night all year round. There is a pre show at 6pm for 30mins, a BBC documentary about the history of Venice which is part of the ticket price at €39, either easily online or at the theatre which is what we did early that day. It is a lovely intimate theatre with a 4 cast show that are brilliant at showcasing Venices' history. I learnt a lot about Venice history easily and concisely being at this theatre. Defiantly a must see for sure. It is in English.
