We recently made a trip to Venice and stayed at the Hotel Canal Grande. Venice was magical and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotel. Superb! Staff were brilliant, kind and extremely helpful with everything.

although the hotel were hard to find, we've liked everything in this place, the staff were so helpful and polite and they were great tour advisors, the breakfast was excellent, and the room was more than perfect. I loved the canal view from the window every morning.

we definitely recommend you to stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: sometimes the breakfast outdoor is not a good idea because of the pigeons :(

We visited Venice the week before Christmas, a great time to visit with few tourists and bright, crisp sunny days.

Hotel Canal Grande is a gem. Reasonably priced for its high spec and lovely yet convenient location. A five minute walk from the train station and only a bit further from the bus parking lot, which is a big plus in a city that is so difficult to get around with luggage if you're walking (those bridges...!). Canal Grande is a small hotel with a big heart. Lovely staff and rooms that while decorated a bit OTT for English tastes, are impeccably clean, and well serviced with high spec bathrooms. The hotel is one of the most spotless we've ever been in - not a speck of dust anywhere. Lovely continental breakfasts. And an interesting touch: there's a lounge on each floor, so a nice place to go in the middle of the night to read if you don't want to disturb your companions. We'll be back - Hotel Canal Grande is a real find.

Before booking this hotel I read the reviews on here and wondered if it really could be as good as people were saying. In short...it was better!

The hotel staff were extremely friendly, eager to help, happy to recommend places to visit/eat and generally make you feel as comfortable as possible. From start to finish they were fantastic.

They arranged a private boat tour for us, which picked us up from the canal facing side of the hotel (literally stepped out of the door and onto the boat), and dropped us off on Murano Island for a tour of the glass making factory.

The room was exceptional. We were only there for the weekend and the room was so nice there were times when we considered staying in rather than going out to explore....Until we reminded ourselves we were in Venice! The Venetian decor was the giveaway.

In summary - I can't recommend this hotel enough and I have already said to all my family, friends and colleagues that if they travel to Venice then I know where they should stay.

Enjoy!

We chose this hotel based upon the location. It is located a 5 minute walk from the train station which saves you from a long walk over many bridges and cobbled streets with bags, the expense of a water taxi or hassle of a vaporetto. The hotel is 20 - 30 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and Piazza St. Marco. So it is close enough to both with the additional benefit of being away from the tourist frenzy. Although we did our booking online they had a couple rooms available and gave us the option to upgrade to better rooms. All of the rooms are bigger than the norm in Europe. Ours offered a partial view of the Grand Canal and had a very nice bathroom with a tub. It was very comfortable. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful. They were happy to make reservations and give us tips. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We saw three rooms in the main building and they were all nice and bigger than usual. Rooms with a canal view or partial canal view have much more sun. Others look out onto the next building and were darker.
