“Wonderful Hotel, Very Friendly Staff”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for a few days. The hotel was beautiful, very close to the train station, the room was very nice and the breakfast that was included was yummy. We were upgraded for free at check-in to a better room. The room had a nice private balcony. We also had a closet, safe, living room and a small kitchen, two televisions (that were built into the mirror) and coat closet. The room was very nice and Venetian style. It was a little bit of a walk to St. Marks Square but Venice is pretty small so it wasn't tough at all to walk or take the Vaporetto boat. We loved this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

This was our favorite hotel of our whole trip. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and we had plenty of room. The location for us was perfect. Right across the canal from the train station. Breakfast was excellent. Love, love, loved it!

We had been told that it is difficult to find a good hotel in Venice for an affordable price, so we decided to splurge on the Hotel Canal Grande. I was looking forward to this as one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel was fine, but definitely not our favorite. We stayed in a separate section of the hotel, that was a few doors down from the main entrance. I think we would have liked it better if we were in the main hotel. The room was clean, but dark. We were on the first floor and it smelled a little musty, but that is probably typical for Venice. The bathroom was nice. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was helpful. It is an easy walk to the hotel from the terminal.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main hotel and preferably not on the first floor.

Dear Guests,
thank you for your kind review,
it is nice to know that you liked our hotel.

As you wrote in your review you were not 100% satisfied because you room was in a separate section.
We would like to explain through your review to all Tripadvisor readers what does it means in a separate section.
Our Prestige Rooms (street side view) are either in the main building or in a little building completely restored only 19 metres far from the main one.
Prestige rooms, there, are larger and , inside these Prestige Rooms as a plus, you have a complimentary Coffee and tea maker and bathrobes.
They are beautiful Venetian Style rooms with all comforts.

We will check and find out what was the smell mentioned in yor review,
because our rooms normally smell a flowers scent.

We really hope to to welcome you in our hotel in the future,
we thank you again and we wish you all the best,
regards,

Four of us stayed at the Hotel Canal Grande in two double rooms recently, on a (too) short break to Venice. We've been to Venice before and chose this hotel mainly for location, the reviews on here, and price. We got good rates from hotels.com. We've always been happy with previous hotels but like to try somewhere new. It didn't disappoint and we really enjoyed staying here. Its handy walking distance from the Vaparetto stops, in fact from anywhere you want to walk to, and a few minutes walk to P.Roma to catch the bus back to the airport. Rooms were beautiful, staff at breakfast and reception were good and very helpful. And its easy to find when you arrive in the dark. Recommended.

Away from the noisy, crowded tourist zone but conveniently located across from the train station in an equally picturesque area, this is a perfect boutique hotel with an outstanding staff. The rooms are rococo in style and comfortable, adequately sized with generous and luxurious bathrooms. The walk through twisting alleys and streets and over innumerable little bridges to the Piazza San Marco takes about 20 minutes, but realistically 40 as there are so many places to stop and photograph along the way. Take the number 2 vaporetto back along the Grand Canal for a different view.

I splurged on this leg of our holiday and booked the 2 room suite at this hotel for 4 nights (over 500 euros per night - but it was the height of Carnivale). Really good sized bedrooms, great bathroom, beautifully furnished, and even my 21 year old son was impressed with the mirror which turned into a TV with the touch of a smart wired button! For me the greatest pleasure was lying in bed watching the boat traffic on the Grand Canal. Easy proximity to much of Venice. A little far to St Marcos (at least 35 minutes walk), but very close to the railway, vaporetta stops and Piazza Roma. Lovely and helpful staff, and the bartender makes an excellent Spritz! Very good range for breakfast and their hot chocolate was gorgeous. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I stayed on the 1st floor overlooking the Canal and it was extremely quiet. Because its on a very q...
