Hotel was really clean and tidy right next to the train and bus station. We didn't have a view only a painted wall but still nice room. Breakfast was general standard continental breakfast but this was the same all around. Would recommend this hotel it is further away from st Marcs square etc but we walked to it and took about an hour but we seen loads on our walk that we would have missed out on if we went by the water bus .. Will defo be back.

My husband booked our trip to Venice and chose this hotel after looking at the website. We knew it would be basic but the hotel is completely misrepresented by the website!

We found the hotel easily, the one saving grace for this hotel is the location, which you can't knock.

The hotel looks like it's falling apart! Both the outside and inside lack appeal from a cosmetic perspective, not that that's important while you're in such a beautiful place, but for the money we paid I'd expect better.

The service was ok and the enployees were polite and helpful.

My main problem was that our air conditioning sounded like a machine gun! We went to reception to complain twice, and each time were given a desktop fan and told that the air conditioning was brand new and that there shouldn't be a problem. It was like a sauna in our room! They promised to look at it the next day, which they did. The noise did stop but the air conditioning was useless!

No English channels on the tv, which again isn't really a problem, but I'd expect at least one normally!

The walls are thin and you can hear all the other guests throughout the night and early morning. Also the water pipes make a knocking noise though the night keeping us up.

I've never felt compelled to write a review on here before but I felt this hotel deserved it. Do not stay here, it put a real dampener on our stay. The website is misleading!

We have stayed previously at this hotel about 5 years ago. Being close to the entrance to Venice, you can drop your bags off quickly and it saves trekking them further into the city. It hasn't changed much if at all, and that gives it the charm we remembered. True it could do with some upgrading, particularly for the price, but then we did go in June and all hotel prices are higher than normal. The welcome was good, and it is a good base to explore being right on the Grand Canal, but just out of the expensive tourist areas of Rialto and St Marks Square. After a day sighseeing, or a night trip in Venice, a ride on the boat back to the hotel rounded off the evening. The rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast more than adquate with a range of food avaliable. Staff were friendly and spoke English and we had a very enjoyable stay. I would recommend it if you want a traditional hotel.

Room Tip: Front rooms have a view over the Canal which is quite interesting to watch all the various craft goi...

We stayed in the family room overlooking the Grand Canal at the front of the hotel. Not the most picturesque part of the canal by any stretch but probably the cheapest canal view you'll find. For a one night break to show our young kids the delights of Venice this was fine. Comfy room, plenty of towels, shabby little bathroom but really good shower. Breakfast was ok, and the front of house staff are really friendly and helfpul. All in all, if you want to impress someone in Venice, then avoid this place, however if you want a cheap place to sleep in for a night, then it's ok. I agree with others that this is not a 3 star hotel, however we didn't pay 3 star hotel prices. If you're booked or booking to go here, set your expectations accordingly, it's not a hidden gem, but perfectly adequate.

We chose this Hotel because we ended our fabulous cruise on Carnival Breeze in Venice it location sounded great and although pictures of hotel looked dated it seemed ok ! This hotel is far from ok it's dated look is an understatement it looks as though it's falling apart from the outside and when you get inside its no better the Aircon system is very concerning my daughter and I have both come home with sore throats and colds this needs to be looked into and for the money we paid its a rip off don't look at this hotel I'm sure there are plent of others around the beautiful place of Vencie that tick more boxes

We've just returned from a 3 night stay. I really can't understand some of the bad reviews on this site. It's a very old building and a bit shabby from the outside but if you look around Venice, this is quite typical and adds to the charm.
The foyer is small but characterful and inviting and the front desk staff are friendly and polite.
We had a room on the 1st floor and had paid extra for a canal view. This was a great move and our view was outstanding. If you close the windows and shutters at night [& put the air con on], there was no outside noise or light which made for a great night sleep. The room was small but this didn't matter because it was full of character with shabby chic, traditional furniture. If you've been to Italy before, you'll know that you are more likely to have a traditional room than a modern corporate one, which suits us fine. There was also a small flat screen TV and fridge with a reasonably priced mini bar. Very clean with maid service/ clean towels daily.
There is a small garden and dining room where you can have your self service breakfast. Reasonably basic but had everything you need- fruit juice, teas/coffee, cold ham, cereals, pastries, toast/rolls, jams etc. It set us up till lunch time very well.
The location is wonderful, right on the grand canal next to the train & bus station, with shops, bars & restaurants on your doorstep. Yes, it's a distance from St Marks Square [approx 30 mins walk or short vaporetto ride] but there is a lot more to Venice than this. Eg There is a wonderful church about 5 mins walk away from the hotel- Santa Lucia- which is beautiful and free to enter. The Jewish Ghetto is about a 5-10 min walk, also worth a look.
We will definitely stay here again, hopefully next year.
Ask for a canal view in advance for the extra experience.
