Close to the Campo S. Apostoli, Promessi Sposi was packed with locals and tourists. It is an osteria, which means the food is traditional and simple fare so if you are looking for gourmet go elsewhere. We ordered the "bigoi in salsa", a local dish that is composed of sardines and onions, the fegato alla veneziana (liver Venetian style) well known by my Italian husband who loved it, and "fritto misto". The fritto misto remained crisp to the last bite, the mark of one well made. The service was very attentive and friendly and we will definitely return for a second visit.
