“Great escape”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

We spent three nights here. Great base for exploring Venice. 2 mins walk from S Angelo vaporetto stop. St Marks 10 min stroll as is the Rialto. Staff were friendly and helpful. Don't miss the free water taxi to Murano and tour of a glass factory that we found out about when we asked the main desk about getting to Murano! Also enjoy the free tea from 5 pm. Room was huge and full of character. I would happily recommend.

A lovely and convenient small hotel. Breakfast is substantial. Directions from S Angelo dock not clear. Bridges not great for heavy suitcases. Our room had a deep tub shower but had rail for assistance getting in and out. Very quiet and clean

2 night stay at the Palazzo. It really is beautiful and authentic. It's more on the large bed and breakfast end of the spectrum than a true hotel. Service is fairly good. There are a few stand out people that make everyone else look just OK. Breakfast- nice spread but overpriced for what it is. The room is very unique- we have a 2 room suite. There is a balcony off the bedroom and a private roof terrace. The location is amazing. Toiletries are lovely. No complaints.

What a pleasant surprise. Once we found the hotel we were thrilled. I say that because we were dropped off on the Grand Canal and had some twists and turns to find the place. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were very large. The rooms were also kept clean and even though you could tell they were old it did not feel dated. The breakfast spread was very good with plenty of choices each morning. WiFi in the hotel also worked very well. The hotel location was a short walk to all things Venice as well. We have stayed in more "upscale" places before such as the Gritti Palace. Do not waste your money for that! Stay here instead! You won't be disappointed.

Great hotel. Stayed here with family of 4. Very big room at a very reasonable price. Beautifully decorated with large canopy bed, marble bathroom, fireplace, foldout couch, desk, big desk, table, and still lots of room to walk around. The staff is very attentive and they go out of their way to take care of the guests. Excellent breakfast with quality food. Near everything, yet because it is on the dead end of a small access to a square, it is very quiet.

Room Tip: Room 157 is beautiful

We spent four excellent honeymoon nights here and enjoyed our stay immensely.
It's a beautiful building (from the entrance hall to the breakfast room, afternoon tea lounge, courtyard and bedrooms).
The location is ideal: Campo Sant'Angelo is off the very busy tourist track but still handy for the main Rialto, St Marks and Accademica areas.
There's no bar, restaurant or room service but there are countless good bars & restaurants within a few hundred yards and a small supermarket round the corner where we bought snacks & wine (cooling the Prosecco in the room-fridge).
Breakfast was excellent although to a continental taste (wide variety of fruit, cakes, and grilled/braised vegetables, and eggs/pancakes cooked to order). Coffee straight from an espresso machine).
The hotel has waterway entrance so take the water taxi if you can afford it (especially as the San Angelo Vaporetto stop is a fair walk with a couple of steep bridges).
The hotel WiFi was a little unreliable but it didn't spoil things.
The staff were friendly enough and quite helpful, looking after and sourcing Soya Milk when requested,

We stayed in one of the Palazzo's suites for 7 nights in July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious, about 40m2 with a marble ensuite bathroom. Heavy drapes, lots of velvet and statue holding candelabra (lighting). TV italian channels only but good Wifi connection. Tea/coffee in room. Reception was very welcoming and helpful with booking shows etc. and afternoon tea/sandwiches and cakes were gratefully received late afternoon. We slept very well. Breakfast served until 10.30. We enjoyed a selection of crepes, fruit, yoghurt, coffee icecream, toast, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and various other hot and cold selections. Cold meats, salads, cheeses, cakes etc. were also available. Frothy cappuccino, coffees and teas were also served. The hotel has 13 bedrooms and therefore feels very homely. No restaurant facility in the hotel but lots of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. A lovely bottle of dry prosecco and biscuits were provided with the hotels compliments upon our arrival and these were gratefully received. It was very centrally located within walking distance of countless squares, theatres, restaurants etc. We bought a 5 day ticket for the actv water boats which proved really useful. Hotel can be reached on Line 1 disembark San Angelo. Walk to San Angelo Square and at the top right hand side you will see a small bridge and the hotel quite easily. The hotel can be recognised by the red brocade cloth hanging down from the windows. We spent time on Murano island which was fascinating, we also watched numerous concerts, operas and ballet. Rialto, Marks Square are within walking distance. Venice is expensive but unique and thoroughly enjoyable. It was extremely hot hence the need for the water boat. We took a water taxi from San Angelo Pier to the Airport, less hassle and not so tiring. Thank you to the management and staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Lovely old hotel, all the rooms I viewed were attractive with their own specific features. We had f...
