We stayed at Dimora Marciana for 5 days before Christmas. The location is great, our room was clean and the breakfast was fine too. Manuel was friendly and helpful. We had a couple of nights when the heating didn't seem to work and the room was a bit cold, except for that we enjoyed our stay in DM.

The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are decorated beautifully and it is a good price being so close to St Marco Square. The room was clean, the bathroom was large and the hotel is very near the vaporetto stop. However, the beds are extremely hard and the breakfast was just barely adequate. I ask for a mattress and extra pillows and got them. We felt the hotel front desk staff treaded us like we were a inconvenience. Don't expect any information on the area from them, and there is a flight of stairs to the rooms, no lift.

Room Tip: We had a room on the alley and it could be a bit noisy.

The best thing about Dimoria Marciana is the location -- close to San Marco Square, shops and restaurants and not too far to tote your luggage from the vaporetto. That's what secures the very good rating from me. Location is important when you are spending your day walking and touring.
Though it's down an off-the-beaten-track alley that is mostly residential, you'll do best to request a back room, and one away from the breakfast room as you can hear the morning noise in the alley and the breakfast being set up at 6 a.m. The decor is ornate and typically Venetian; it's quaint and charming. I didn't find the room small, by European standards. The bathroom was modern, clean and well-equipped. On the downside, the beds are very hard and the breakfast just adequate - -little more than a croissant, some warmish yogurt and watered down juice. The housekeeping staff was friendly while the front desk was a bit stand-offish. Don't expect to get good visitor information here. Remember that this is more of a B & B than a hotel so don't expect full-hotel service and amenities. As far as price, Venice is expensive and from my research it is a good value given the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the back and away from the breakfast room.

The room we stayed in was fairly small but adequate. Close to everything we wanted to discover and more. Hard to find but I think worth it in the end. A bit over priced but it appears to be the norm for all hotels in the area.
Reception desk was helpful but staff seemed a bit cold.
Would stay again.

If you don't mind a small room with hard beds this place is an ideal place to spend a few days in wonderful Venice.Located on a quiet dead-end alley a few blocks from St.Marks square it is an easy 3 block walk from either the #1 or#2 vaporetto lines from the St.Marks Valleresso stop.Considering how easy it is to get lost in Venice this was a blessing. From this location we walked everywhere saving the expense of vaporetto rides. The only boat rides we took was a free water taxi ride to Murano. The glass factories have their agents in St.Marks square handing out free 1 way trips to the overprriced glass factories on Murano. You're not obligated to buy anything and only need pay for the vaporetto back to St. Marks.Only cons for the Dimora was no tissues in the small (no counter space) bathroom and the thin hard mattresses and pillows. We asked for and received extra pillows. The TV is small but who comes to Venice to watch CNN.Breakfast was simple but adequate.Get there too late and the pickings are slim.

Room Tip: Bring your own tissues and get a good map as it's easy to get lost, especially at night. If you're coming by auto, park in Mestre and take the train 1 stop
