“Nice small place for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

We ate here on our second night in Vience. We wanted something that reviewed well on TA but also close to our hotel. We didn't have reservations and just walked in at 7:30 in December. I would not recommend our approach. Small place with about six tables in the winter time. There are tables outside if it was warmer that I think you could eat at. I would highly recommend reservations even in low season. We were lucky to get a table. Small place I believe run by a family. Fresh food in clean environment. We started with seafood risotto. Two people have to split it to order it but it is good. We then had two different beef dishes for our main course. Then we had two deserts. The chocolate one was really rich and something we will always remember. Only saw one person working there while we were there. She managed all six tables being full without issue. We feel lucky to have gotten in and able to enjoy this place. If back in town we would eat here again.

“Superb service by delightful couple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

The platters of fish that came out of the tiny kitchen were extraordinary including pesce crudo (raw fish and shellfish) and "fritto misto" or the deep fried shellfish and fish composition so typical in the Veneto. Unfortunately, the seppie alla veneziana, or cuttlefish in its sauce, was too heavy and saturated with sauce and it seemed as if large strips of calamari were used instead of the little delicate cuttlefish so typical of this dish. We can also quibble with the salad since it seemed more of the pizzeria type than consistent with the high standards of this restaurant. We concluded that we had ordered badly and that we would return for another visit. Outstanding service from the delightful and kind proprietors.

“very pleasant experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2012

after reading TA review, we made a reservation via email and they were quick and prompt with email and accommodating with changes. They were hard to find, you really need a good iPhone GPS. BTW a GPS is a must in Venice, forget the maps, you'll never find your way around to the small out of the way places. we were warmly greeted and we were there in December so it was not full at all. We sat next to a couple from France and had a pleasant conversation during dinner. we started with scallops + artichokes with pasta, was very nice flavor, then the grill fish plate to share for second course, that was very nice too, we had Prosecco with our meals. for main course we had the steak with pepper sauce which was delicious. I had the mix fried seafood, which in retrospect was not the best choice of food on my part, it had a light batter which was nice but probably could get that any where in the world. They were very accommodating and even thou we were the last customers at the restaurant and we were talking and drinking well after the restaurant was closed, they never made us fell unwelcome or rushed. all in all we had a very nice time and delicious meal. Grazie Larisa + Virgilio

“Osteria Antico Giardinetto -not to be missed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

My husand and I went to this small restaurant down a side street in late August. We had prebooked by email from the UK. There was no availability on our first suggested day but luckily we managed to book a different night. Great decision-we sat outside (and sheltered under the retractable roof during a brief rain shower)-and had one of the best meals we’ve ever had.

“Good but certainly not the best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

V small osteria serving typical Venetian food which I find bland and boring after 2 days! The food here is very fresh and served with care. Desserts very limited and no cheese available. The beef taglonini was dull and only served with potatoes, which is one of my pet hates about Venetian cuisine.. Hardly any vegetables ever served.
