My partner and I stayed a week in this beautiful apartment in the midst of a scorching heatwave. The location is perfect, a stone’s throw away from every major Venetian spectacle and conviniently above a supermarket (from which you can pick up some very good prosecco for a couple of Euros!). We enjoyed breakfast in the sun every morning on the Atlanta taking in the stunning views around us. With such excellent and well equipped kitchen facilities it was no effort to whip up tasty meal with the excellent local produce (recommend Rialto Fish Market).
The apartment is air conditioned throughout; stylishly decorated, beautifully furnished with stunning traditional Venetian furniture and the perfect place to rest after a long adventure around a beautiful city. Couldn’t name a fault, would definitely stay again.
Every one should visit Venice at least once in their lifetime. The problem is that if you stay in a hotel you have to eat out all the time or sit in cafes when your feet hurt. It's limiting and can work out extremely expensive.
A stay in Ca' Spencer is the solution, your own beautifully appointed apartment with an efficient kitchen, it gives you the options to eat out or the fun of shopping at nearby markets and cooking your own meals. For me, the biggest advantage of Ca' Spencer is the roof terrace, the altana. We loved eating our alfresco breakfasts surrounded by the beautiful roofscape of terracotta tiles and church towers, listening to their delightful bells.
The apartment is sumptuously comfortable and exquisitely decorated and yet informally welcoming. So much thought has gone into the design, paintwork and furnishing - 'Venetian Exotic' is the only way to describe it.
It's a great location too with most major sights within easy walking distance.
We loved our latest visit to Venice, which was undoubtedly the best one, thanks to staying at Ca' Spencer.
I’ve been many times to Venice and this gorgeous apartment is a must from the first time I stayed here. Hoping to make my third booking here for my partner’s birthday, it really feels like home. It’s right in the middle of San Marco, between Rialto (2 min walk) and Accademia. Right in the middle of where everything is happening but without being bothered by the noise of the many tourists. There’s a brilliant supermarket just outside the palazzo, where you can do your shopping (it’s so easy) and there’s also a Coop near Rialto where you can get the most tasty “Sarde In Saor” (sweet and sour sardines in onions, a typical Venetian delicacy) from the deli counter. The fish market is a must, I can’t stay away from it. Followed by the veg market where you can get white asparagus and “fondi” which are the soft bottom parts of artichokes. In spring and autumn you can get “Moeche”, that are baby crabs that shed their shell, which are considered very special by the Venetians. OMG, having written this I just want to be back there now. I think I must have been Venetian in a past life as it’s the only city that I felt I knew as soon as I arrived the first time. History, architecture, art, food, romantic walks...Venice has it all and this stunning apartment makes the whole Venice experience unique. I normally complain about uncomfortable beds and flat pillows when I travel, but staying here takes comfort to a whole new level, but maybe that’s due to the lovely wine enjoyed on the “altana” roof terrace :)
Bravo to the lovely owners for sharing their bellissima casa veneziana. I’ll be back soon
Had a 4 day break here to catch tail end of the Bienalle I could not have chose a better place.....I walked everywhere from the front door. Supermarket within 10 yards. Best of all after walking miles every day the apartment was so good to hang out and relax in. Well equipped kitchen, netflix, extremely comfortable bed and fabulous bathroom. I will be back.
What an apartment to be based in to explore Venice! Perfecto! The Venetian interiors are incredibly authentic and stunning, there's a great rooftop terrace, and the location is sensational (next to supermarket, galleries, boat stop and a superb local bar to for aperol apritz!). Perfect to explore the biennale, have rowing lessons, food markets and beyond. The Best gallery is right next door in the square. After a days walking and walking amongst the island magic, we ended up cooking meals in wonderful kitchen more than eating out, and dining on the roof top terrace. You couldn't ask for better hosts - Caroline and Chris are full of helpful information and guidance to make the most of your stay - such as a secret tip where to buy delicious local prosecco and wine by the litre. LOVED IT. Where else but Venice can you step off a beach, onto a boat, jet up the grand canal, alight onto the airport jetty, for your short cheap flight back home to London. We'll be back . Grazie Mille! xx
Brilliantly located and with a roof terrace with stunning views over the city. The interior decoration is sublime, and wonderfully equipped so you can easily cook. It's also so quiet despite being a stone throw from great bars and the canal and all the ferry boats you'd need to get around. We only used the ferry boat to the airport and the seaside as it's easy to walk everywhere else from the apartment.
