“Couldn't fault!”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Decided to go here after reading reviews on TA, really glad we did! It's a tiny restaurant with a small bar area to wait for a table. We squeezed in and asked the barmaid for a table for 2. We have no idea what she replied but she understood the word wine so we happily drank a glass each and waited hoping she said a table would be available. We didn't wait long and we were seated. We ordered a shrimp cocktail each, myself a salmon pasta and my partner the bacon and onion pasta. The food was fantastic, basic and delicious. Again, we couldn't understand the waiter but it wasn't a problem and was really rather comical.
Was very surprised when we got the bill, would have paid double for the quality of the food! Highly recommend!

“Authentic, Friendly, and Good”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

We read the restaurant reviews on Trip Adviser and noted that this restaurant, not too far from our hotel, had gotten good ratings. We asked the hotel to make a reservation for us (needed because good and relatively small). The pasta with scallops and mushrooms tasted great but was a bit disappointing because there were only three scallops in it. Nevertheless the flavors were excellent. The mixed seafood plate was basically shrimp and calamari with a very light batter covering them. It was superb. The house white wine was light but ok and went well with the food. The quality of the food and the price is to be highly recommended.

“great view, good food, excellent service”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

we were hungry and just arrived at the hotel; the restaurant is across the canal from our hotel with great review from trip advisor; the waitress is really friendly and patient with us as we clearly do not speak Italian and new to the city. She specially set a table up for us on the street when all the table was taken already. The food is delicious and view is wonderful.

“As good as everyone says!”
Reviewed November 7, 2013 via mobile

Very friendly and welcoming staff. My first meal in Venice (an early dinner by Italian standards-6:00pm) and it lived up to expectations. Caprese salad flavorful and fresh. Tagalitte (ribbon pasta) with scallops, mushrooms and garlic very good and BIG. House white wine a perfect compliment. Waitress spoke English well enough to make up for my complete lack if Italian. Regulars drift in and out for snacks at the bar providing local color and a bit of entertainment. Definitely recommend.

“Lasagne Bolognese and Gnocchi Delicious!!!”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

This little bar / restaurant far surpassed our expectations.

It was just around the corner from our apartment so we gave it a try.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Our waiter was great - so helpful and always smiling.

We sat outside at a table overlooking the Cannaregio canal.

This place was packed!

I had the lasagna and an insalata mista - both fresh and delicious. The lasagna reminded me of a homemade lasagna from my Italian aunt - each bite was heaven.

The gnocchi which we tried on another night was always excellent as was the tiramisu dessert.

We met lots of fellow travelers here and enjoyed our dinner each time we visited.

The prices are excellent for Venice.

We look forward to going back to Pontini!!
