My wife and I went in there cos it had a tourist menu and we had spent a fair bit on other meals during our stay. Let's just say we regretted this decision once the first part of our meal arrived.
My wife ordered the vongole, and the clams were frozen, not fresh, and they tasted as if they were frozen for a very long time!
Then the fish came, and it was definitely a deep fried frozen fish, which smelled a bit weird.
I ordered the roast chicken and it was not cooked all the way through.
The wait staff we're not very friendly and they were not too quick to help us, eye were more interested in having a smoke.
Normally, we can deal with some average food, however, when we left we were both really annoyed and angry at the way we spent our last night dining in Venice.
Beware, DO NOT EAT THERE and definitely don't order the fixed menus!

For the tourist, a friendly, helpful restaurant with delicious food and excellent service is a real find. Restaurant Al Gazebo has been such a place for our student touring groups. The tourist menu is very satisfactory, the regular menu excellent. The lasagna is superb, and we especially enjoyed a generous serving of tagliatelle with shrimp and zucchini. Wonderful proprietors and service complete a memorable Venetian meal and we have returned year after year with our delighted students.

We enjoyed a delicious (though costly) meal in this lovely restaurant, situated in the Cannarregio district of Venice. The staff were friendly enough, the surroundings very cosy and ambient. We had excellent steaks and tried polenta for the first time ever here which was perfect. The red wine served was one of the best I have ever had! I would definitely eat here again even though it was a little on the costly side ( almost 90 euros for two steak dinners and four drinks!) but hey, that's Venice! Worth visiting.

We weren't accosted or intimidated by the staff as we walked past, unlike other restaurants. The waiters looked after our group really well, there were 6 of us aged from 12 to senior citizen. Sat outside, so don't really know what it's like to eat inside. Enjoyed our first visit so much, we returned for 2 further evenings, so between us we sampled a variety of dishes. All the food was delicious and our requests for alterations to some items to meet our taste preferences were met willingly. Found it was best to go after the market stall outside the restaurant had packed away, as on the first evening, the stall-holder was packing up which was quite noisy. Street entertainers stopped to perform, as is typical when dining outside, but this just added to the atmosphere and we all enjoyed them, especially the children. Our loyalty on the 2nd & 3rd visit was rewarded with extra attention. We chose it for the reasonable prices and a menu that was more interesting, representing the Venetian/Italian choices & not consisting of chips that seem to be aimed at tourists. Between us, we specifically enjoyed the taglietelle dishes, spaghetti & meatballs or seafood, omelettes, pizzas. Would recommend if you want value for money for a family. You probably could find cheaper elsewhere, but based on our experience at another cheaper restaurant nearby, the quality & manners of the staff would also be inferior.
